Default Help me plan my 270-280whp K24/20.

Hey guys, my k-series experience is more with forced induction so the whole N/A side is new to me. I'd like to see 270-280whp on pump 93, car would be tuned by DMT in Toronto. These are the parts I have/parts I plan to buy. I'm NOT looking for reliability, just to put down nice numbers and do some roll races where I live.

05 K24a2 stock block w/type S pump
08 K20z3 head
ST 92lb spring+retainer set
Prayoonto stage 4
50* VTC
Ktuned intake manifold 90mm
Ktuned 90mm throttle body
Ktuned BIG tube swap header
Injectors?(no idea what size to run)
walbro 255

I am open to running a prayoonto big tube fender exit header** Block HAS to stay 100% stock that's the only key.

That's too much cam for stock compression. It will be very difficult to get your number without upgrading the short block. Why must it stay 100% stock ???

Reason for the block staying stock is the cost and time of proper engine assembly around where I live, I was under the impression that the 270whp range was attainable with a 100% stock block. Going by some of the k20a.org threads the prayoonto stage 4 cam shows up a fair bit same with the DC stage 4. E85 isn't an option here in northern Ontario either.

You can't really go by dyno numbers you find online sadly. A dyno is really just a tuning tool and each one will read differently based on type, calibration, correction factor, etc. There will be noticeable differentiation between a dynojet and dynapack(hub dyno) for example. A dynapack can inflate numbers up to 10% over something like a dynojet, which is considered more of a "real" reading. Just look at all the guys with bone stock bolt on K20s making "230whp" on a hub dyno, then getting their feelings hurt when they put down 210 or less on a dynojet.

I would say lower your expectations just a hair if you're strictly limited to 93 pump. Most setups need E85 or other alternative fuels to get into the upper 200s NA. You could give Humble Performance a call. They are very intimately familiar with big HP NA K series setups and can probably give you some solid direction.

I understand that aspect, DMT uses a hub dyno. They post all the cars they tune on their IG with a graph, and parts list. So, maybe I should rephrase the question what's the absolute most I could get out of the stock block k24a2 block without doing any porting. I feel like the parts I have now are well suited for this goal.

If your going to dmt just get Graeme at CCH to bore .5 and drop in some cheaper cast high compression pistons and arp rod bolts on stock rods. It would be worth the extra cost (he just built my motor and I think he's very reasonable but also busy) just my 0.02

With that list of parts and m1 fuel you will be in you range no prob. You need to have a bigger pump and at least 1000cc injectors.

1000cc Bosch or Rochester/Lucas injectors aren't necessary.
please remember he's using 93-94 octane fuel, not sugar water.

With a 50 deg VTC gear make sure your P2V clearance is fine with whatever cams you go with. A couple manufacturers sell pins to mechanically lock the VTC to 35 or 40 deg if necessary.

KPro can also electronically lock the VTC, but I don't trust it as much as a mechanical if it's determined to be necessary.
