Honda's first gated shifter
Made this at work. it took a lot of effort to get it to all come together but I'm super pumped about finishing it.
First I had to chop the stock shift lever because it was far too wide to allow proper gates. I welded a 3/8 bar, bent it, heat treated, threaded and tempered it.

Then I made a cardboard template, which I cut to fit exactly and used it to measure clearance

I also decided to hand carve a Mahogany wood shift **** to match my steering wheel. Then I coated it in Beeswax/Linseed Oil to give it a tough but natural feeling finish.

After careful measuring, I drew up the blueprint on Mastercam and let the HAAS CNC beast get to cuttin' (you can see the finished **** here too)

Thanks all for the kind words! Its nice to hear positive feedback!
thanks! hmm I think I'm going to keep this as a one off. I still have the programming saved on a usb so perhaps I may change my mind one of these days. its not really a bolt in mod and requires a lot of fine tuning to each application I'm sure. also the civic shifter surround and my part might not fit properly.
thank you! As I mentioned earlier I spent a ton of time measuring to ensure no contact. after driving with it though if I shift really hard it only lightly taps when I'm putting it in 3rd or 5th. I just need to get used to it. Under normal driving there is no contact at all.
it feels awesome. no missed shifts possible here! (even though I have never missed a shift before haha)
thanks buddy! heres a couple pics:
old gold wheels

wheels that got stolen!

it looks a little different now, on cream coloured steelies
and no rack. also had woodgrain vinyl on the roof and trunk top haha (coming off soon because its faded)
