Power Inverter Question
Hey guys, I have a question...
I have a Honda civic LX 05 and I'm looking to buy a power inverter for my car so that I can connect my Logitech z2300 speakers. If doing so, is there any bad result might happen to the car?
I just found a 500 Watt inverter (Power Bright PW400-12) and was about to buy it to try it out but I just want to make sure by asking first.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Re: Power Inverter Question
Here is my purpose: I'm planning to connect the inverter into the car's cigarette lighter so that I can power my speakers (z2300) since I really like the sound quality of it, and want to enjoy my ipod touch music with it. Therefore, I just want to make sure that is this a good idea or not. btw, that speaker is 200 watt and I dont know much about amps and Volt...

Do it the right way. Replace the headunit with one that has iPod control, upgrade the front and rear speakers, buy an amp/sub combo or a powered sub.
Leave the computer speakers in the house.

Re: Power Inverter Question
Have you ever think about budget? or whether it's long or short-term driving car? of course that is so easy to say and think...
And plus, I think that this sound system would sound much better than the replacement built and it's much cheaper too..
Beside, what are the adverse effects would this resulted? this is my question...

Re: Power Inverter Question
ok you get points for creativity. i mean, it's like when the first caveman discovered **** sex. i mean ok so sticking it in the vag is fun, well hey let me stick it in the pooper too, even more fun. i can see how your thought process evolved. ok i have these computer speakers and they sound GREAT, i could stick them in my car, and it would be even more fun!

you should read the previous post again and then open your mouth
and why the hell do you care where I'm going to mount it? stick with the question

Re: Power Inverter Question
Have you ever thought about buying used? Sometimes used car audio is free. I get free speakers all the time. A decent used headunit might set you back a whole $50 - $100.
Go garage sale-ing or search craigslist. Ask some friends if they have stuff laying around.
Then you are certainly no audiophile. It'll make noise, yeah, but it's not going to sound "good." - But if you've got your heart set on this .. .. so be it.
Well, I don't think it'd necessarily cause any problems if used temporarily. It'll just look ridiculous. Wires dangling all over the place, connected to computer speakers.. in the car. Awesome.

Re: Power Inverter Question
since you told me to stick to the question, I will answer it.
No. Nothing bad might happen to the car from hooking all this crap up to the cigarette lighter.
Nothing at all. Go for it.
See if the z2300 speakers consume 200 Watts of power, then a 500 watt inverter will provide plenty of power.
Now, a typical cigarette lighter output is probably only good for about ~10 amps on a good day. Since it's 12V, that's 12V X 10A = 120 Watts total output from a cigarette lighter.
So you can give this stupid idea a try, and it will probably work ok, until you:
1) try to drive the car anywhere
2) try to turn the volume up
3) try to show it to anyone
good luck!

They had cheaper ones, but you have to spend $100 on a receiver to get the free install gear (so it was actually cheaper than buying the cheaper unit and gear separate.) The speakers run about $50 per pair, but you can find them real cheap used / closeout / scratch and dent.

Re: Power Inverter Question
Did you do it? If so, let us know. When I was 16, I did all kinds of crazy stuff. Wanted tunes....Then I discovered sex in the car. Tale in the car is better than tunes.... You too will discover this. One day soon.
