Mystery Solved!!
So after all this time, I was finally able to find out the cause of my timing belt jumping!! It turns out that that the distributor I was using had WAY too many washers between the distributor housing and the piece that goes in to the cam itself. When the distributor was tightened in to place, it was forcing the cam to bind.
I am not sure why it started happening now, this distributor has been used for a long time.
When I was setting up the timing I was able to duplicate the binding while turn the engine by hand. This also makes sense to why I didn't take off any valves. Only the 2 un-circled washers should be installed. mine had all 5!
The motor is all back together and running. Just a few things to finish up and it will hopefully be back out to the track soon!
I really liked the seat. I actually just sold it though. The back was sitting too close to my harness bar, so it was either get a new seat, or start cutting/welding the cage. It was very comfortable though. I would definitely recommend it.
The car ended up having a good year. Had over 12 days on track and I went through the NASA competition school. I have also decided that I will NOT be going to Honda Challenge and instead will be going to ST4.
No not as of right now. I am trying to keep the setup as simple as possible so I can carry over to the NASA Western Endurance series without making many changes to the car.
Few more photos from 2017. The car was super clean in the first picture. It had just had some professional photos taken of it.
Getting signed off for NASA Comp School Last event At Buttonwillow Raceway in December. way down on power and buring lots of oil. How the car sits now. Early Feb.
