Runs great- $2900 spent at 205k in 2015 on timing belt, seals, gaskets, CV boots etc. I have the invoice.

I was going to try and be quiet, but I can't. Fender and door paint doesn't match. It's not "mint" but it is clean.
Also, "looking for a quick sale" and "$8,500" don't work together. If this were an actual mint, low miles, original paint, etc. example you *might* get close to the asking price. The issues here are the mismatched paint, high miles, non original tails, etc.
You can buy fully restored k swapped hatches for your asking price. Hell I paid $10k for my 1994 Si with it's full restore job, properly shaved and tucked bay, supercharged K, power windows, locks, and all other stuff working such as ac, ps, cruise, etc.

The car has been resprayed and it wasn't a great job. In person the fenders seem to match but in photos they don't. The miles are high but the car has been well maintained. I bought it a few months ago and have spent a bunch of money getting it to smog and on other stuff and have realized I don't love it as much as I thought i would. I really want to do some mods, but then it won't be original anymore and I feel like it should stay original. What kind of price do you think I should put? Basically the price represents what I have in it. Some guidance would be appreciated.

Honestly I'd keep it, and mod it. It's already non original with the paint, so I'd swap it and have fun with it. Then again I'm totally biased because I have a highly modded EH3.
This is an absolutely exceptional example in today's market, but it falls short of collector "Bring a Trailer" status and for that reason it's likely going to appeal to a buyer looking for a clean car to build upon, not keep stock.
The funny thing is, Bring a Trailer accepted it so long as I list it with no reserve. I don't think i have the time necessary to keep it and mod it the way I want. That's why I am selling it. Someone sent me an offer at $6k yesterday and I asked when they could pick it up, but they never got back to me. I am open to offers but people keep telling me to lower the price first. Why don't they just give me the offer? Sellers want as much as possible and buyers want to pay as little as possible. I get it, so send the offers, I won't be offended!
I'm 99% sure they are supposed to be black on the 1992-1993 Si hatches. 1994-1995 they are body colored. My own 1994 has them black on purpose because the owner who had it painted (and I would do the same too) preferred the 92-93 spec black grilles. Also are the bottom four vertical slats also painted red, or is that just the picture? These are the sort of little details people who are willing to pay a premium for these cars will notice.

I'd grab some SEM trim black paint, take your time to do a perfect taping job, and spray those side grills and the entire center grill with the black. I've used SEM and it's a perfect OEM black plastic finish.
I cannot tell you where to price the car, honestly. You'd hate my answer. I don't know what you paid for it, and unfortunately things like spending $3K in maintenance don't really add much value to buyers. I'd have to see something like in person to really get a feel for what I'd pay for it. In all honesty if the paint is not so great I think that really hurts the resale value, and if I'm a buyer looking for a really clean stock Si I'd go into this one already adding the cost of a good same color respray in mind when I started to try and negotiate a price with you.
Time will tell us if truly 100% stock, low mileage EH3s ever command some of the EM1 and now GS-R Dc pricing we're seeing. I truly hope it does, but in the meantime I think the word "MINT" in all caps is what made me want to reply with any criticism. "MINT" means exactly that. It'd have to either be OG garage kept paint, or a near flawless respray to call it "MINT" in my opinion. It's absolutely "super clean" and especially being rust free, etc. Interior is as close to mint as I've seen for sure, but Milano red is already a very hard color to keep nice and the repaints have to be spot on color match wise.
I'll stop replying now. I apologize if I came across as only trying to shoot your sale down. It's not that, but I do offer some context, and if you re-list it, or list it elsewhere I'd avoid "MINT" because that triggers people to pick it apart.
That is really helpful. Very insightful as well. You are right, MINT was too strong and very clean would be much better. Hopefully a mod can change that. I am ok with the community offering feedback and I felt you were doing so. i just want some guidance on the price so I know how far off I am. Even the lowballers fail to show up with cash, so I don't know exactly what it will take to get the car sold, but I am open to offers.
