Default EF hatch gas smell whether car is just idleing

might be a noob question, but when I turn on my car to go to school in, I turn it on inside the garage to warm it up a bit since its cold outside but in just that little bit of time the whole garage is filled with the smell of gas. If anyone can fill me in on how to fix it or if that's just normal for it. Its DX and with dpfi

Could be injector seals. The problem with DPFI injectors is that when the seals go bad, they can let un-metered gas enter the engine. I literally just took apart my DPFI throttle body and put it back together to investigate the same thing. You can see how clean the inside of my DPFI manifold is, and there is a puddle of gas in there...I'm guessing with the gas leaking past the seals, it is somehow keeping the inside of the manifold clean? Strange thing is, I'm still getting over 30 MPG...

Well, if it's cold and its in your garage, it's going to smell
Cars run rich on cold start for fast warm up.

The question is if it smells like gas once warmed up. Then it can be any number of things

Uhm. You aren’t supposed to warm a car up in a closed garage. Gotta open the door, or better yet pull the car outside to warm up.

The gas smell is normal.

well yeah I opened my garage but to not let all the cold air in I only opened it up a bit. My problems is that even when the car is warm it still throws a strong gas smell but coming from the exhaust.

Okay, is it warmed up, but in your garage still?

If not, it can be running too rich, or have a bad ignition that's not burning the fuel. Maybe an exhaust leak, gas leak, or bad catalytic converter.

Possibly just a bad gas cap

turns out it was just bad spark plugs. I can still smell gas but at this point I'm assuming that's just normally now for an old car.

disconnect the battery and let the ecu reset. It probably calibrated itself to compensate for the bad plugs.
It should not smell like gas, mine doesn't at least.
