I think that's the first time I've seen a Honda strut bar mounted like that.

Didn't even notice that. What difference does it make mounting it that way?

Before, if it were a b-series, mounting it that way would damage the map sensor. Had it happen on an em1. these guys pulled the entire engine out just to do a simple timing belt job and oil pan gasket. They re-installed everything and reversed the strut bar. Broke the connector and slightly cracked the map sensor.

Other than it looking "backwards" it actually does not change the function of the bar. See my comments below for the full explanation. :D

Yes, exactly. I'll take the silent "This dude mounted the bar backwards LOL!" over having to fight around it for plug swaps every 10K. I drove the car every day this week to/from work, and that's 88 miles/day. If I keep that up, and take it cruising on weekends, then you can see how changing plugs becomes pretty frequent at 10K intervals. Installing the bar "correctly" also means likely having to remove it with each plug change, and that's not exactly easy as these are bolts and nuts as opposed to pressed-in studs.

At first I could not figure out why Pojo (the builder) chose those bolts, and why he'd have the bolts coming from the top - then I realized they match the HASport engine mounting bolts perfectly, and the exposed threads are now out of sight. Take a look at the engine bay pics again, and focus on the engine mount bolts, and the strut brace bolts - pretty insane, right?

It's those little details that I keep coming across.

Also, just from an aesthetics standpoint for me personally, I don't like how the bar would hang over/across the K valve cover even if it didn't obstruct plug swaps.

Got some Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax, and Waterless Wash/Wax for quick mist wipe downs between washes. ****'s badass.

The Butter wax goes on easy, and comes off easy with light hand buffing with even the softest microfiber cloths. The Waterless Wash was badass for cleaning the car tonight after I got caught out in post-rain shitty road misting yesterday. Using a two cloth method - one to wipe the dirt off in one direction, then another to buff to a shine - it looks like I just did a full-on wash. I love this ****, and I was a Nanowax freak prior.

Not bad for ten year old paint.

Wow.. this thread is insane. Almost speechless. I never thought I'd see the day. Haven't logged in here in a few years. Great to see you back in an EG, Tom! I remember talking to you on the phone about 10 years ago when I first did my JDM B18C swap

The details within this build man.. fantastic. I love the new-era touches, such as the rear view compass, which make it such an adult hatch. Completely understand where your head is at.

Definitely appreciate it. I won't be selling it though. :D I'm about to drop some time and moneys into it.

My name's Tom?

Thanks man. As much as I wanted my old silver hatch back in my possession it's just not practical for where I'm at in life, and it would have been way more expensive than buying this green one.

15x8 +36ET 949 Racing 6UL in Tungsten.
205/50/15 Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 (summer ultra high performance tires, pretty damn sticky)
Old school Neuspeed/Bilstein coilovers. They ride amazing, but are too soft for my liking. I'm swapping those out pretty soon with PIC coilovers, but have yet to decide if I'm going with their street or race set-up.

Sorry, Tom! My mind was all over the place as I wrote that comment. You worked at the Honda dealer when we chatted about some swap issues. I'm curious as to when you decided to start looking for another hatch after being out of the EG scene for quite some time. By the way, I can tell you got that job that you told me about a few years ago (nice license plate frame!)

Yeah probably Carey Paul. Life sucked right about then.

Well it started off as a hunt for a new FK8 Civic Type R. After looking for a bit, and REALLY considering trying to DD a limited production car with 20'' summer tires I decided I'd rather get my wife a brand new Civic Sport, and use the difference to buy a badass EG. That's exactly what I did, and I have zero regrets. Not throwing shade on the FK8, but this thing is way faster, still has all the comfort features, plus a moonroof. I know it's not nearly as safe, nor is it the same overall driving experience as the FK8, but for my personal uses the EG is much, much more enjoyable to me. Once I add the PIC coilovers, and the LSD with shorter FD it will be literally perfect in every way to me.

By the way, I can tell you got that job that you told me about a few years ago (nice license plate frame!)
Yup! Landed this job as a temp about six years ago, and out of twelve or so people hired at the same time as temps I was the first of six to get "converted" into a full time position. I was forced to sell off my silver B18C5-EH2 while I was a temp making **** money. They told me I was being converted to full time a few weeks after I sold that hatch to pay for some home repairs that ended up not being as dire/critical as once thought. I think it worked out exactly as it was supposed to though.

My wife was wanting to surprise me for Christmas, so she ordered me something on eBay...

...she wasn't aware that I have the eBay app on my phone, and I was logged in still. So I got a notification that the item shipped, and saw what it was. I immediately let her know what was up, so when it arrived today it's an early Christmas miracle!
