Default Considering a 2017 Sport Hatch

Hi all,

I need some input. I'm getting sick of fixing my DD ZC 90 Si and dealing with its issues. It's seriously taking time away from work and school. My fiancee also doesn't want me in a death trap anymore. I'll probably keep it as a project because I have a spare B20 swap in the garage. I absolutely adore the new hatch and a dealer near me finally got a black 2017 Sport 6mt in for around 21k. I also have a coworker with family that can possibly get me a discount. I have a few concerns, though.

I don't like the idea of an electric parking brake too much and can't find much info on how it works in this car. Any quirks? Will it work if the car loses battery power for some reason? Does it stay engaged once engaged even through a dead battery?

Second, does this car use the R-1234yf crap? I've done some research but also can't find any conclusive info on it. I've read of a few people having serious issues with the A/C unit in this model. I'm kind of a diva when it comes to A/C, so I want it to work.

Third, I know it's kind of early tell if there will be issues with the turbo. Has anyone had issues with it and I assume that it's covered under the powertrain warranty? (5 years?)

Also, any other random issues? Thanks in advance

I don't have any answers to your questions. But I'll provide some input I've had with my LX hatch.
Coincidentally it wasn't until after I leased my LX that I found out about the Sport and that it was available with a six speed. One of my local dealers is getting a White Orchid Pearl six speed and I'm seriously contemplating trading mine in for it.

Onto my input.
I absolutely love this car. It is easily the smoothest, quietest, most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned.
I have noticed my A/C doesn't blow as cold as usual from time to time. But I live in Arizona. There's only so much that a mechanical system can do to combat the elements. But I digress.
The multiple drive modes are fantastic. I usually keep mine in regular drive econ mode. But if I ever need extra power to pass I throw it into Sport and have more than enough. I'm not sure if the Sport has different drive modes.

Thanks for the input. I'm getting pretty jealous of people with keyless entry, cruise control, power windows, and a sunroof that doesn't rain on them. Oh and the lack of random scary noises. Even my roommate's 2002 EX Civic is dead quiet compared to my coke can EF. I will likely try to do a test drive soon but I'm sure I love it already. I also just hit 5 years with my insurance with no accidents or claims and got a HUGE discount. Plus I will be married shortly and will own a home so there's another couple of discounts. I'm not worried about the cost of changing it over.

Oh, I also have two 10" subs. Has anybody installed a sub in this year car yet? Kinda like to keep my audio.

I don't believe the Sport is available with a sunroof. You have to step up to the EX or Sport Touring for that option. And as far as insurance goes, I pay $178 a month. But I'm a single 26 year old guy with a few tickets.

Even better. I won't have to deal with sunroof leaks and lack of sunroof parts in 10 years lol. I'm paying like 60 a month right now but I have no tickets, claims, or accidents at all. Only thing I'm kinda sad I won't get is the Honda sensing, but I'd much rather have the 6MT over a sunroof or Honda sensing.

I personally got a blue hatch for daily driving to go with my 93 Si hatch (barely kidding ), which is my track car. Looking at this conversation, though, it looks like the Canadian models have different options. I have a 2017 Sport hatch 6MT. It has center dual exhaust, a 7 hp bump, a sunroof, keyless, lanewatch (which I hate; it is now deactivated), adaptive intermittent wipers, etc. Note that in Canada, we only get LX, Sport and Touring. The Touring is not available in 6-speed.

As far as issues go, the only one I have is the headliner making some crackling noises every now and then when I hit bumps. I will have it looked at when I get my next service.
