Default 2006 Civic Si raddle sound

ok we broke my oil pan and leaked all the oil out and ran it no oil before we discovered there was no oil. I’ve replaced the oil pan. Changed the oil and filter. And now when I run it. It’s sounds like a bolt loose, exhaust leak, or tapping like sound coming from the valve cover, intake manifold area. I’m pretty sure this is going to have to be a bent valve.is there any other cause it could be running it out of oil like that? I can still drive it. But I’m sure it has to get a valve replaced. I would do all valves in the process. I’ve watched videos on timing a K20 and the guy said it’s really hard while the motors is in the car. This is my daily driver so I’m car-less now..... should I just sell this car? 200k on the dash... or pull the whole engine out and rebuild the head? . what do you guys think?

it's not going to be a bent valve, you're only really going to bend a valve when the timing is off, it's likely going to be rod knock

that’s what I find odd. I hear the noise coming from the upper area. I’ve driven about 45minutes- 1hour coming back from the dealer. Would a rock knock ride that long?

do some searches and try to find another instance where a bent valve produced a knocking sound

How long did you run it with no oil?

With no oil, I would think all the bearings are damaged to some degree, the cams likely received some damage as well as no oil for the tappets and lobes and LMA's....

I'd pretty much think the whole motor, top and bottom needs to be rebuilt.

10-15 mins. Noise is only when you accelerate. I replaced the lower rear mount that connects to the back of the oil pan. But the mount center front (4) in the picture was pretty bad. The center mounting hole the bolt guides through in the rubber was like screwed up sideways and I had to straighten it out just to get the bolt in. That mount is ordered. But I didn’t order it until I replaced the oil pan and raised the subframe back up.... so it’s coming. I hope that’s what it is. Like you can feel the gas pedal vibrate but it’s the sound that seems to be coming from the IM/ head that worries me. I guess I’ll replace this mount and hope for the best. The pedal vibration points towards the mount I want to say.

If you run it out of oil and then it has a death rattle, a motor mount it not going to fix your problem. You most likely stretched the chain, and possibly the VTC actuator when the engine got close to locking up. Engine is gone, replace and move on.

sounds like it’s from the head. I’ll replace that VTC actuator. would the VTC actuator in my 2.0 be the same actuator in a 1.8 non ivtec?

No, don't keep throwing parts at it. You've done damage beyond what you can reasonably fix. Just get a used motor to replace what you have.
