spent a few days cleaning this carpet up. It isn't near where I want it to be. I def will have to dye it I was on ig and someone recommended detail king carpet dye... anyone else recommend something? Can't find anything at local auto part stores.
I used RIT clothing dye, salt, a kiddie pool or big trash can and it turns out great compared to the spray can method. From I remember, I used 20 bottles of dye (over kill but I didn't want it not be black enough), couple bags go rock salt and hot water. Filled up the pool with hot water (did mine at work where they had an industrial water heater) mixed dye and salt. Submerged the carpet, weighed it down with bricks and let it sit over night. Took forever to rinsed the carpet the next day but I was pleased with the dye job. Good luck!

My friends and I over the years have done both methods but we after I dyed my carpet, we spent a whole weekend dying 3 sets of carpets they saw how my turned out. It's been 10 years since I dyed it and it still holds up. Spray methods works but you have to re-spray ever so often. A small invest in money and time will go a long way.

Never tried red dye before, only did black. Best bet is to cut couple of small portion of carpet, and do a test run with 1 bottle to see how the red dye takes to the carpet so your not spend extra cash on dye. also do a test with bleaching the carpet vs not bleaching the carpet prior to dying.
return the dupiccolor and save your money. gives the carpet a hard and brittle feel. paint will flake off over time.

thanks. I had a feeling that would happen but was willing to try it but now u confirmed what I didn't wanna admit too. I'll def return it this weekend Appreciate the info
i have almost every type r part I need. Wasn't gonna put em in untill the body work was done and the engine was in but I might if I need the space in my house lol or if I get bored and jealous when I see your pics 😂
I have also have full ITR interior, faux CF, doors and even the useless read speaker cover 3rd brake light delete. I like the black carpet bc from the door panel down is all black.
SEM fabric paint is what i used, i used diluted purple power and scrubbed the crap out of it. i used about 5 cans for the entire thing. i also used a paint brush and brushed it between coats.
So I've had no time to work on the car and with the winter coming up it'll be too cold for me so I'm just trying to get some basic stuff done and just accumulate parts during the winter, Still need a transmission. I got the longblock from a good friend for 650. Ran good so I know I'm winning. But the ebrake cables are an issue where I might have to find new one as it's tight

So I painted the spare carpet I had. It came out ok. Not in love with it. I have a much better carpet but I'm keeping that on the side untill all the body work is done and engine is in. I came across the rear type r seats today for a good deal when I went to a Jdm Depot and the looked around the place. The owner didn't even know he had the seats I had to find it in two separate areas of the warehouse and tell him that these two parts of the seat belong together lol. Seats are mynt though just have to cut off the top middle metal piece to make it fit perfect
