Picked up my new OEM glass today. A couple pieces of trim/ molding arrived damaged, but the replacements are supposed to be in tomorrow. The only glass that I'm reusing is the rear hatch glass. I picked it up while I was dropping off the new glass. Another shop is removing the tint before the glass is reinstalled early next week.
While I was at the shop I spent some time admiring my JDM bumper that was painted while I was out of town. Pretty sure I'm going to rock the Mugen bumper, but it's nice to have the option of a more stock look.
Special delivery!! 6 months after putting down a deposit my dream wheels are finally here. I got an email yesterday from UPS with a tracking number saying that they would be delivered today, so to avoid the headache of missing the delivery I changed the delivery instructions to "pickup" at a local UPS location. When I showed up to pick up my package there was only one box with (2) wheels. Even more stressful, when the guy at the desk called the dispatcher to get ahold of the driver.. the guy said that they weren't on his truck. ...Fast forward (4) hours and the second box was delivered.
16x8 +42 Mugen MF10's! Only 25 sets were made for the reissue.
Case #1! That means they're more valuable right? Thought they all probably said that until I received the second box (case #11.)
In less awesome news.. I went to pick up my rear glass from the shop removing the tint, and the owner pointed out that one of my rear defroster terminals was broken off. Hard to say if it happened at his shop, if the guy who removed the glass broke it off, or if the guys at the paint shop broke it while it was being stored.. and used as a table. It might of even happened when they were shoving it into a box for me to keep it safe in transport. I know that it was intact before I dropped the car off because I disconnected the terminals myself. I was hoping to avoid someone else screwing them up.. It's too hard to nail down what happened.. so I'm probably going to have to eat it. I also had the privilege of paying $50 to have the tint removed from a piece of glass I'm not going to use. Looks like I'm getting all new glass after all..
Those are some nice looking wheels! Sucks about the glass. If replacement cost is that much I feel like they should have been more careful. If nothing else to assess the condition when they took it in. It's not repairable?

Thanks man! I've wanted a set of MF10s for years.
Unfortunately the rear glass is not repairable. I could probably re-solder the connection for the defroster, but not without compromising aesthetics. I talked to the owner of the paint shop this afternoon, and he offered to cover half of the cost of new glass. He's a pretty reasonable guy.. He said that even though he didn't think they did it, he couldn't be sure. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Back in business! Picked up the rear glass from Acura today and dropped it off at the body shop. With a little luck I should have my car back in a couple of weeks with new glass and fresh paint! I need to hurry up and finish the damn garage before it's too late. I've already roughed in the electrical, sheetrocked, taped, finished, painted, and installed light fixtures. I just need to get a few things out of here, do something with the floor, install some trim, and figure out some storage for spare parts and wheels.
Yessir. I can access the deck from the house or the garage. I live at the top of a hill overlooking Lake Washington, so the garage has a pretty sweet view. The top floor is ground level from the front where I pull into the garage, but from the backyard it's the second level.
Stopped by to see my car and pick up the last of my parts that were painted. All of the new OEM glass has been installed! It's amazing what a difference new glass makes.
The car is just about ready too. I should be bringing her home on Friday. Looking forward to it!
The guys have done a great job and the car is really looking good. I thought I was picking it up on Friday, but when we got it out in the sunlight we found a few small things that still needed to be addressed. I was able to pick up the last of the parts that were painted, but the car itself won't be coming home until Wednesday. I'm definitely looking forward to it!
Finally got the call I've been waiting for! Yesterday I brought my car home from the paint shop. AAA towed it home for me after I told them my car wouldn't start (not lying technically.. pretty hard to get it to start without a motor.)
She was only home for about fifteen minutes before I started mocking up a few parts to see what she looks like now that everything is the right color. I'll have to take most of it apart again but I figured it's best to store as many parts on the car as I can.
I spent most of the afternoon and early evening staring at her. It's taken 3.5+ years to get her to this point.
I want to give a huge shoutout to the guys at National Auto Collision in Kent for the job they did on my car. I'm sure it took a lot of patience to put up with me, my OCD, and the insane expectations I had for the car and all of the extra parts I brought in. The owner (Seung) is a really cool guy that went out of his way to make sure everything went right and that I was happy with the car at the end of the day.. And by day I mean three months. That is a long time to have a car taking up room in your shop. These guys do amazing work at an unbelievable price. They have my vouch and I will recommend them to anyone that asks about paint!
