*Official H/T OFFROAD/LIFTED CR-V thread!*
Hello guys,
I have a CR-V 1998 and i want to do some upgrades on him.
My fisrt question: which is the max tire size that i can put with the Old Man Emu Springs and the rest original without rubbing.
The 225/75/r15 fit well with the springs i mentioned?
Hope to see some opinions/ configs that you have

2" lift. The 225/75R15 are the biggest that will fit. Remember to hammer the tabs down that are on the forward side of the rear wheel wells. Don't be surprised if there is still rubbing now and then. Good luck!
What do you mean by "hammer the tabs"?
I have a 2nd gen like you. I just did hondata airbox mod and welded up a dynomax super turbo muffler. Stock looking, subtle and quiet at idle with a nice deep low tone when I get on the accelerator.
i'm super freaking jealous of your crv! prolly going over-board with the questions but,are your wheels alloy? what size are your rims. 16x6.5? if so what is the tire you put on it? any lift or spacers? and what specific dynomax did you put on? (amazon has 2 different ones, 17731 or 17733?

thanks man!!! i;m still in high school so there's a budget and yours looks really good without having to drop 2k on mods
Ideas? Suggestions?
My goal = Adding OldManEmu lift to my 98 CRV/stick...and then either 225 or 235 75/15's on stock wheels. I like the steelie look, but my reality is, I drive 4 hours a day on the fwy, and haven't gone offroad in a decade.Anyone experienced in lifting/bigger tires on stock wheels? My concerns are (a) 225 or 235 won't "fit" on stock (b) if they do, how much (if any) to space the wheels. Since this is my first lift, open to ANY suggestions.

I think the factory wheels can fit that no problem. maybe a 10mm spacer would come in handy to push them out away from the wheel well a bit up front for turning.
My main concern would be trying to push around a tire/sidewall that big on a 98 motor.
I come from an off road back ground (I've owned land cruisers, land rovers, 4runners...) and even with a large engine in those, I have felt the difference between a 31'' tire and a 35'' tire.

I have had tons of Honda cars but New to the crv thing but here is my 2003 ex awd .... first thing I did was switch out the puney little 205's to some 225/70-15 all terrain tire .... thinking about getting a 1-1.5 inch lift ... any suggestions ? Coils or strut spacers ?
Has anyone had problems with their roof rack/basket. I put a rack on and it doesn't obstruct the sunroof but it makes the sunroof a complex b**** to use. The wind vain(?) I think pishes the air into the car when I'm going. Should I get a new one that's a little further back or can I adjust my crossbars back?

But to answer part of your question... Yes you can move the crossbars back
That looks perfect. I'm running the same tire size 225/70/15, but Cooper At3 off-road tire. think this is the best size for 2nd gen with no rubbing. I was thinking lift but I don't think 2nd gen needs with this size tire.
yes this size clears just fine . I am thinking of getting 1 inch strut spacers just to give it a little boost in height ... but first I am going to do a bull bar , led lights and a roof basket
I'm looking at the CR-V as a hunting soft-roader. Quiet, capable, and reliable. I'm just wondering... Would you guys recommend a 5 spd manual or automatic transmission? Also... Jackson racing supercharger... Too much or just enough to increase/decrease the off-road capability?
