J series Insight Build
Motors aren't my specialty, but I'm wondering if the plenum volume isn't insufficient...further it looks like there'd be room to increase that volume with a spacer plate. Also, the intake runner length couldn't be any shorter - this kill the low and mid range? Or does variable valve timing make it moot?
Anybody have a well informed opinion about this?
Thanks,
Scott, who isn't going to do a J-Swap...but it's fun to think about what I could slay with one

Lower power bands are ideal for street cars, but when you operate in the high rpm range there is no care for lower power bands. Also, if it was a street car, these motors make too much torque for such a light chassis. With mine, if I decide to drive it on the street, even in 3rd gear I spin the tires when I floor it from low rpms. Unless Im on my dyno tires, then only 1st gear is useless, lol

Dang! It looks like its getting so close. I really cant wait to see it done. Makes me want to go back to building my J series.
to run those you need custom length valves and valvesprings (all untested and custom,so wait time is huge).witch is total pain in the *** for .517 lift. im getting a set of regrinds for now .470 lift that work with everything i already have.
No too bad of a wait time man. Inline Pro will have my heads done in 3 weeks. (Complete valvetrain to support the cams)

Commin along! Im debating on starting back on my j build. But I really like having it as a street car and Im pleased with its performance on the track. Its a perfect 11.5 index car. I run consistent 11.5s in it. But we'll see.
