No start after head R&R. No spark/No injector pulse
Hey guys hope everyone had a merry christmas.
Now unfortunately this no start problems happens too often to myself and others. Here's a little background and also what i have done.
99 civic ex 5 speed bone stock
Head was making loud tapping noises, pulled the head off and the keyway from the cam gear had broken a chunk off the end of the camshaft so the camgear had a few degrees of play in it...
Swapped in a known working head. re-installed my known working distributor redid the timing belt. and no start. i had fuel and i had spark, so i checked timing and wasnt sure if cam was 180 off so i redid the timing and sure enough it was spot on the first time. Only changes done were redoing the timing belt and now there is no spark or fuel pulse.
My problem is showing symptoms of a bad ground. G101 is on tight hasnt been removed or messed with before or after head replacement.I have NO SPARK and NO INJECTOR PULSE.
When key is turned once, relay clicks. with Key turned on but engine off pump primes and then clicks again when done priming.
I have confirmed no spark across all four wires.
Hooked up a noid light to injector plugs and injectors are not firing.
I checked my CKF sensor and pin 1 and 3 have 2.2ohms which is within spec.
Fuse 9 and 13 installed have power to both terminals.
Fuel pump primes and there is pressure at the rail
Distributor was known to be working hours before. ECU works fine
Any help is greatly appreciated, this one has me stumped.
Re: No start after head R&R. No spark/No injector pulse
bump. searched again and went thru a post with the same symptoms. no spark no injector pulse and the fix was a new distributor.
went to the junkyard pulled a obd2a distributor, wired it for obd2b and had a helper crank it and unfortunately i did not have any injector pulse. I did however get spark (only) to #2 cylinder but after trying again the spark dissapeared .
Im curious why swapping the distributor would only give me spark to #2 and not all of them. but spark is gone now...
Re: No start after head R&R. No spark/No injector pulse
Trace the Yellow with the black tracer wire from the injectors back to the cabin harness to find the interruption.
I had a similar problem. There's a plug on the driver side strut tower that connects the engine harness to the cabin harness. One of the pins had back it self out of the plug just enough to interrupt the connection.

thanks fellas, would i have to unravel the harness or is it easily accessible. I will also check to see if the pin had back out. Im at work currently but get off at 6. I appreciate the help.
Re: No start after head R&R. No spark/No injector pulse
Test for power at the big plug where the engine harness meets the car harness. If you have it there but not at the injectors, then the problem would be in the engine harness. If it is that, I'd remove the whole harness from the engine to repair or replace.

that would be the big plug by the master cylinder? And that would be the blk with yellow stripe?

happy new years everyone.
A little late but i checked for power at the black with yellow stripe wire by the driver side connector.. I have power on both ends before and after plug. does that mean i should be getting injector pulse?
EDIT: I also have voltage at the power on the 2p connector for the injectors

No. The ECU sends a ground signal to the colored wires of the injectors. The injectors always have a power signal via the yellow/black wire. So, the "pulse" you're talking about is actually a ground pulse. I think the ground wires go to the plugs on the passenger side tower. Check for continuity.
