I have a stock 1998 Honda Civic EX with the D16Y8. I just completed a head gasket job. For the job, I bought the Fel-Pro HS9915PT1 gasket kit. I need to replace the exhaust flange gaskets, as the old ones are dead, which I believe are included in the kit. There was no parts list included with the kit, and parts information on the internet is skimpy at best.

In any case, there are a couple of metal ring gaskets in the kit that look like they could be the for the flange. However, they are about 1mm diameter too small to fit.

1. Can anyone tell me if I am correct that they are supposed to be the flange gaskets?
2. Is this a case where the gaskets are for a LX model, and not an EX?

 

It appears that your assumption is incorrect.

 

I can verify that the gaskets I was referring to are for the manifold flange. EXCEPT, they are for the LX, not the EX model. So I had to buy new ones.

In case anyone needs the info, the part number for the EX exhaust gaskets is 60776.

 

The product clearly states that it does NOT come with the exhaust pipe gasket, if you look at the first pic I posted.

 

I hear you, RonJ. But they were included, unless I used the wrong parts from the package (which I doubt).

In the parts image you listed, the 2 large gasket rings (3rd row from bottom) are the ones I needed, except they were for the LX. I had to get the EX version.

When I went to my local auto parts store, I found the exact part, listed as 60776 Exhaust Pipe Flange Ring, which were the exact same material and shape as the ones in the kit, but sized for EX.

It would be nice to have an actual inventory from the manufacturer that shows what each part is. There was no documentation, or anything on the separate bags they came in.

 

How do you know the 2 rings were meant for what you think they are (for the LX)?

It's unlikely to be a coincidence that the manufacturer states that no exhaust pipe gaskets are included.
