this build is going to be real. my friends are going to help build it, and the are excited about it.
they all think its a good idea and it could be a killer design
and why would i spend all my time getting a parts list ready and real prices if i was just being a tite licking troll
Do you realize how cheap 4g63 blocks are? $2000, are you bloody mad? Those blocks can be had for $50. The heads in the turbo and non-turbo 4G63s are identical and can also be had for $50. The non-turbo 4G63 blocks are almost identical too (turbo has oil squirters, nt doesn't). The relevance of mentioning the non-turbo similarities is to show just how many available engines are out there in junkyards available to be built up.
It's nice that you've compiled a price list, but those prices are so far off from reality that nobody in their right mind could take you seriously.
im 34 years old and i would like you to show me this 50$ block
I'm using all new parts and this is how much it cost in the real world. nothing for free.
Why would you buy a brand new block as a core?
Post a link to this brand new block because I doubt it's existence. Your parts list indicates you're getting a six bolt 1g block and those were only made for 2.5 years starting in 1990.
Due to the newest 6 bolt production engine being 24 years old and you calling it a "core", I assumed you were getting a used block because that's typically what a "core" is. I could be wrong though.
Unless you've managed to track down a Mitsubishi dealer that's had an engine sitting on the shelf for 25 years or found an aftermarket manufacturer of cast iron engine blocks, then the odds of you buying a brand new block are slim at best.
So this $2000 core block I suspect does not exist or is a used block. Used blocks can be had for $50 quite frequently.
i think it be better to start with a brand new block because i can have a standard boreal have the block for a long time tell 0.40" comes along
as long as i don't smash it there wont be any wear on the block its clean and no painting it it comes painted.
Ok gentlemen, let's allow this person to at least be given the opportunity to contribute with some actuality of the build. He's starting out as a trial member, and seems rather dedicated to his project and is simply trying to show enthusiasm and interests that others may (or may not) relate to. This isn't GDD, so enough with the troll witch-hunt and comments about opinions about someone's "delusions of grandeur". If it's going to happen, it'll happen and Rob Simon will need to show that at an appropriate time.
So, I'll keep this alive albeit I did some thread clean up. Don't feel singled out if your comment was deleted or "edited", it's not personal...(It's never personal).
Rob Simon, please remember that this is a technical forum and therefore, some sort of "tech" other than just parts lists need to be presented here. We understand that you may be new to H-T, but there is an appearance forum if you're looking for more "show" and less technicality about your build. What this means is, if this is build is to start soon, I suggest you get started with the build, then present photos and descriptions of the "tech" that is needed in order for this thread to stay relevant to this particular forum. You can always justify or rationalize your reasoning behind the build at a later time during your presentation of relevant "turbo tech talk".
With all that said, in the meantime, Mr. Simon, you opened the door for this, and the clock is ticking for relevancy. Best of luck to you
