it wasnt that bad once I was able to respond to a live person. I basically had to reply to an automated email I received when I emailed customer service. Once I explained I had pictures and it was a packaging error on the manufacturers end they responded. I sent the pics, within a half hour I had a return shipping label. Once they received the shipping confirmation that mine was on the way, they shipped the correct one

I never had a problem with rockauto customer service. Everything has always been quick and easy.

I often wondered how they handle the warranty stuff also...but if it was that easy for you to handle that shipping error I can only assume it would be roughly the same for warranty/early part failure.
Thanks for the info! keep posting some progress.

transmission is painted. I cleaned it up and scuffed it last time I was at my friends. He went ahead and painted it today since the weather was decent. It looks like it came out great. It was sent to me with the case and bell housing unbolted so that we could inspect. Synchros look great and had the quaife lsd as described

cleaned up the thermostat housing tube. It was in bad shape like the block. Media blasted it and sprayed it with my trusty krylon primer/paint in one. If it was something that was going to be taking a beating or seen in plain view I would have opted to powdercoat.

a few more minor updates:

cleaned the header up a little bit with some barkeepers friend, 1000 and 1500 grit sandpaper. I wasnt going for a mirror finish but wanted an even look once it starts to color again and the stain/discoloration was bad before hand

I'm not liking the wheels, but the rest of the build is perfection.

Looking good! I love the RNRs personally and that header is making me want to polish mine instead of doing the "brushed" finish.

thanks! first person ive ran into that doesnt like black/red rnr but to each their own. definitely wont be the only set of wheels this car gets, just will be a while before i have multiple sets

thanks sir. The header is a shiny brushed honestly, i wouldnt consider it a full polish. ive found theres a very high ramp of diminishing returns when it comes to polishing something that is going to discolor and oxidize relatively soon anyway. for the time i spent though, i wouldnt mind shining it up again in the future

truth. going for that classic look but i want it all to look new. i cant wait till its done

thanks everyone

Got some progress done on it this weekend. I didnt take a ton of pics though.

We tapped all the threads in the bay that are going to be used. With the new bolts it was nice having things go together with ease

Getting engine bay items reinstalled before the engine goes in

took the ABS module out under the dash and heater core. Drilled through the firewall with a hole saw to run the harness through

With the firewall grommet fitted and riveted in. This thing worked out perfectly. It covers the huge hole so that hot *** engine bay air wont cook my feet, and the rubber stretches enough to get the ECU side plugs through it without any issue.

With the rear motor mount in place the grommet is completely out of site

I started on doing new undercoating and painting the rear brakes. Ill have pics of that next weekend once completed. Dont mind the steering rack and the lower subframe as I am ordering a manual rack and will be repainting the subframe. I originally was planning on leaving the rack in but its an eyesore at this point to me and it may as well get done while everything else is being replaced.

Great work! Where did you source the new/replacement blue brake reservoir cover? The color doesn't appear to be OEM?

thanks guys.

I purchased the master cylinder off an ebay vendor. Its not "Honda" but it is OEM Nissin. JHPUsa also sells them and depending on the batch they could be grey or blue topped
