Default 91 hatch shifter linkage problem

The main problem bugging me is the shift linkage, i took it apart from a car at the junkyard and tried putting it back as best i can using this exploded view diagram.
THE PROBLEM: bottom linkage falls out and does not seem bolt on to any thing just the shifter

The linkage bolts to the bottom of the shifter, the other end connects to the transmission with the pin. I see your other red/black boxes on the diagram but I don't know what you're asking.

Here's a picture of my 91 Si linkage assembled. Should help illustrate how things go together.

Sorry about that, to re-clarify does the plate in the red box support the shifter to the top linkage?

yes, and there are 2 bolts/nuts that attach the parts together.

And those being the squared-ish ones with the 10mm nut, correct?

If #13,[ change rod] is falling down then bolt #25 is missing, or do you mean the change rod along with the #2 change lever are dropping down??? 94

I still don't understand the question.

How can this be a problem?

It's all obvious how it goes together

Try showing actual pics.

#9 goes underneath #14.

You have two parts outlined in black, the plastic part fits inside the rubber part. The shifter lever then slides up into those parts, the ball of the lever should pop in without any confusion. Now, the lever and plastic/rubber components are all together. Now put the lever in place in #14 from the bottom. The plate holds this assembly up in #14 quite solidly.
