Other's can chime in with individual experiences with that radiator, but from what I've experienced with it through many others, they always needed to be switched out when getting the power up. System is only good as it's weakest link..

Just found out I have been running without vtec since I built the engine. I was cleaning my vtec solenoid and noticed the plug I used in place of the pressure switch was holding the piston inside in place. Tuner says I need to get back on the rollers lol. I could never hear it and always thought I wouldnt notice it.

Primary lobe is big enough to make 630whp without vtec?. I dont know how your tuner didnt notice either...

Seems very odd, Usually you get a CEL code lack of power would have to be noticeable as well. I can definitely notice a big difference audibly and otherwise when my VTEC engages

Makes plenty of power and I doubt I would be able to hear it once the waste gate opens. But it definitely has been without vtec. I had the set screw tighten really tight into the piston and it was locked.

So what was the verdict on the head gasket? My cars doing exact same thing, gasket looks exact same way as did cylinders. Just swapped in a new one in same issues =(

I changed to a GE head gasket from cometic and made sure I did my arp torque right. My tuner told me they run speedfactory L19 studs and JE gaskets on their cars over 30 psi. So next time around ill swap out. Also had a small low spot in head so had it milled. Ran it hard this weekend and my cooling system is finally stable.

Whats A good way to test and make sure VTEC is working. When I was all motor I could hear VTEC kick in. My last turbo set-up I couldnt hear it at all. Considering I have to drive 5 1/2 hours one way for a tune I don't want any issues.

On a T4 .63A/R 68mm GT turbine wheel no less.... And you are at over 4658 foot altitude, is that correct?. Very nice and interesting.

Yes 5280ft. It sounds completely different with vtec. Tuner said we could get 760 ish out of it if we cared about the number. Its a safe tune because I beat on it. He loves you shoden lol. You told turbo me I should max around 700 at my elevation and I was happy at 636. He already had the high and low maps set so we ran without vtec and got 600 (to make sure I wasn't full of ****) and then we plugged it in and the first run was 734 with 11.5 afrs. And we called it good lol. The cams are the magic lol.

surprised he didnt do this sooner, to find proper VTEC point. see what I mean about being audible...perhaps not the same as an NA setup but its there. Congrats anyway glad you got it all figured out.

@Dark_Teg typically you would get a CEL if its not working, I use a vtec light LOL but I wouldn't actually recommend that and that just tells me that the ECU is sending a signal to the solenoid, but between that, the audible and power it makes after vtec engages

Damn that turbo puts down some power! Just ordered my Reaper with the 74mm turbine wheel and T4 0.68 A/R housing. I'm in Idaho now, but Nayr will be tuning my car once it's put together. The guys at CoRaceFab are awesome.
