thank you!

Hoping I will have some updates that are more exciting than pictures of parts laying around or an unfinished car.

The bay was sprayed yesterday and it looks great in pics. The friend that facilitated it said it came out super slick. The goal was to get it as close to the exterior as possible so it didnt look like it was done at a different time.

I know most people remove the subframe when painting but my time and mobility constraints prevented it. My ITR bay was painted with the engine and transmission in and I never had anyone complain on that paint job

I had my bay painted with the crossmember in place just so it would be easier for the painter to move around while he had it. I was going to make a wooden dolly that the car rested on ,but we didn't think it would be stable enough on the trailer and decided to just keep it a rolling shell. I ended up pulling the crossmember off the car to get powdercoated recently and just taped off the body line on the firewall and undercoated the bottom half of the firewall where the painter couldn't get good coverage on. Just an idea you might think about trying out to clean it up a bit. Car looks great man.

Thanks

We were able to move the car to my friends shop where the work will be done. We will start on putting it together next weekend. I took one more pic of the bay in the sun, it came out great

There's nothing better than perfectly fresh paint on your car. Looks like they got way down on the firewall too to where it looks better than mine did.

Fresh paint is great for sure!

Got a few small things done and a few small purchases.

A few more oem pieces - new hood prop, flat bolts for the rear glass shocks, shift fork cover, and firewall grommets

Some mugen pedals I picked up for a steal

picked up some reman ITR calipers from Rockauto. They look great but were red. I broke them down and sprayed with my go to caliper paint. Duplicolor silver caliper paint always comes out great and holds up well

I picked up the rest of the brake upgrade from rockauto as well. I got 08 base model mini cooper rotors for the front - they are ITR sized but 4 lug so its a direct fit with the itr caliper I also opted to get ones with the centers coated to keep things looking good.

For the rear, I picked up EP3 rear rotors and brackets so Ill be able to use the stock caliper with the larger EP3 rotor. I had a hiccup with the order, I got 2 correctly labeled rotor boxes for the rear rotors but when I opened it up, one was clearly the wrong size. I tried to arrange the return on the website but it sucked and was basically saying I would have to pay for the return shipping. Once I got a hold of someone at the company and showed them pics and the situation I was able to get a return label so Im satisfied with that and should have a replacement rotor shortly

Lastly I grabbed my T bracket when I was bored yesterday and cleaned it up and sprayed it. It came out great. I didnt want it super glossy but did want a nice even finish. This was just krlons primer/topcoat in one in satin black. I put a couple light coats on and then two heavy ones. Ive had good results with this on other things too

I need some zinc OEM bolts in my life, that looks so good. I haven't been able to find anyone in OKC willing to do it without wanting CRAZY money.

chipping away at this on my days off

The long block had oxidized pretty badly so it would not clean up enough for me to be happy with the finish. We decided to spray it in cast aluminum paint.

no finished pics yet. My valve cover is out for paint currently and the transmission has not been painted to match yet

had a friend smooth out my booster and repaint it since it functioned 100%

I use Rock Auto as well and have heard horrible things about the return process. Luckily I have had no issue...YET. (knock on wood) How big of a battle was it to get them to eat the shipping and fix the mistake? If you don't mind me asking.
