94 civic hatch dx automatic - Crank bolt sheared off, can it be saved??
RonJ gave me the goods, I watched this video on YouTube and the guy seems to have the cam gear upside down in the vid, I think that must be where I got that idea...
Damn YouTube...
Just rechecked but forgot to re tighten the tensioner and I swear it started for a second but then died. When I pulled it apart, the tension from the crank pulley to the cam was film-sey, so I did it once more. But this time I'm not putting on the belts and the bottom timing belt cover just the weird circle thing and pulley and see if it will start again. If so, I'll restore otherwise it's quicker to tweak and see if I can find the sweet spot...or if it was just a dream...

It started! The marks are off so I tested spots nearby and found a sweet spot. But then the alternator belt smoked and broke. It seems the alternator pulley froze...
Is there any place I can find which alternators used will fit into my car? Makes junkyard shopping easer!

I freed up the alternator wheel using a big pipe wrench but it still sticks in 2 places so I don't think this quick fix will work. Is that the bearings? Can I try to rebuild it or wha? The ones at the junkyard yesterday all seemed gone or seized too. I wonder if this was a flaw from this eg era and if another alternator might fit and work better?!

The Denso's are about 300 bucks a pop up here in BC Canada land but they don't weld themselves to the bracket I've been told.
So far I've been lucky with my Mitsubishi alternators.
Also, when I was pricing out the parts to rebuild it was more than what the Denso would cost me brand new.
Your mileage may vary from mine. Best of luck.
