No, nothing really to show though. I just put bolts instead of studs, only one of them has a nut on the back side as well, and there isnt room on the WG side to put nuts on.

Seems to be holding up lol.

I did the same thing on my manifold
Nothing back down, and I have nots on three of the bolts and not the 4th one.

The next manifold won't have that problem. All v-band all the way around.

Nice numbers and runs LightningTeg, seriously making me think about ditching the kraftwerks supercharger for my k20 Teg and going turbo. Any info on that black civic coupe that shoots the fireball outta the exhaust in that video on your channel with the k20 and 6266 making 550hp? I'm scared to turbo it because I know these 6spd trans are like glass:p

The K trannys can last under boosted power for quite some time as long as you use careful shifting manners. We've seen them with just a diff installed survive 600whp as long as there's not a lot of launching on slicks, flat foot shifts, etc.
It also helps to have a turbo/manifold combo that builds boost a little slower and doesn't come into its power super quick and sudden. But if you start adding power and abuse the tranny like you can with a B series box, your going to trash it quick for sure.

Oh I see, the car would only be used for Street driving and road course racing, well I was looking at the 3076R so that throws building boost slow out the window lol. BTW is there any kind of car scene in Delaware? I just moved to Dover a few weeks ago and I see you're from Newark.

Yea I hear you. My last B20V used a Full Race ProStreet Kit with a GTx3076r and it was a spooling monster. Full boost available by like 4K lol. And DE is so-so. There's actually a lot of fast/nice cars around but not a lot of an organized scene. Mostly I end up in neighboring states for real action, but we have some street stuff going on when the weather is nice. A lot of big cube domestic power is what's around though so get that boosted motor dialed in well if you want to win often. These people around here love they're 800-1000 HP Mustangs and Camaros lol.

I first read the bad news on LS1tech...been there man, just got my LSV (PR3) back together after a 6 mo. down.
It made 7 yrs. and several high-heat incidences, but @ a weaksauce 300hp, nothing like your Champion.
Iirc, you use copper spray, right?
What HG did u use, LS or GSR? (U did use a GSR head right, not PR3?)
How did you measure torque? Trust your wrench?
Second round on the studs?
And was the head surfaced?
Just interested in the post-mortem and noting results.

I know it's irritating when your Rod is illin', man
Chill, swing back to work and be productive,
You'll get it going in time, good as new!

Awesome battle viddies, Thank You!

From my personal build experience with my B20V, use the head gasket to match the head you are using. VTEC head, VTEC head gasket. I did not personally use the copper spray, and didn't have any leaking issues at ~450whp, but cannot speak for 600+. As for how to torque, as always use a quality calibrated TQ wrench and check everything twice. ARP head studs are a must, and make sure to use a good amount of their supplied lube.

I need to do some more tests but car will probably be down for a bit as I'm a little exhausted and need to put some OT in at work.
Have the block or head o-ring'd, and toss some L19's at it!

I meant to ask if studs were re-used, btw, not if re-torqued....I just make mental notes of factors when someone experiences failure of whatever so I can try to avoid.
What kind of torque wrench?
I use LS gasket and remove rivet.
Used this

http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/additio...rench-testing/

I doubt that any problem you have was torque-related, just chatting and sharing info here.

I checked the head studs, torque was still in spec. Flushed the old coolant out and found head gasket material (bigger pieces) floating around so she definitely needs a gasket lol.

Looks like the root cause was too much timing. I took out about 4 degrees and the plugs were better looking and the car got faster. Ended up running another H/C vette later that day (and had lots of other potential races) but I called it quits so I wouldn't risk hurting the motor.
