i got a 97 GT i need to restore, but from it being near the ocean for most of it life, there is rust on the forks, handle bars, and pedals. the frame is perfect. This thread is probably going to make me tear it down this weekend.

Cool man glad you got a bit of motivation from this lol
Yea well i threw on my chain, seat and wheels from my Pro Line Pro just temp because i was so bored and tempted one day and it rides smooth and its actually a bit smaller than my Pro Line Pro but i actually like it better imo. Just feels real good to bring it back to life and it looks 100x better now lol.
Ill get a new chain and seat soon and hopefuly update this and maybe continue this with restoring my Pro Line Pro now..
Thanks for the kind words bro, I appreciate it especially from a person like you.
So do you have more bikes? Lets see a few pics.
Do you flatland? I fall alot do try keep things on gravel haha my body isnt as flexible as it was 20years ago hehe.
So i was thinking perhaps its time for a new school bike
What are your thoughts on the 2016 Haro Master tribute bike?
Just got my other Red Line Pro Line Pro edition! Its a great BMX dirt bike to race with. I never got into flat land it seemed when i was younger in the BMX scene all my buddies rode GT's and dirt raced and tracked so i honestly im not familiar with the flat land line bikes. Yea it sure does put allot of stress on your back its where my back issues and pain are rooted from lol
Forgot I had this thread haha I actually been building a few more BMX bikes, Ill share some pics of the 2 GT power series I have and im actually going to restore and put new parts on the redline again! I also fixed the green redline I had from 2004!
I built a replica or close to it of Garry Elis's GT, here is the pics of his GT at the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame.
Dude those are sick! I had one on my old GT with carbon spin wheels!. There's one for $400 on eBay but again these GT parts are getting hard to find and people want a arm and leg. I might by the matching seat but it's $200 and I kind of like the vintage GT seat I have. Still period correct and much lighter for racing.
but since its a replica of Garrys GT I'll keep the speed series standard fork. The white GT is more for show where as the black GT is fully capable of racing as is. It's soooo light the white GT just needs better wheels to be race worthy. They are both built to be carpet queens for the most part. I'll ride the black GT every now and then but mostly ride my 2 red lines.
Man, these old bikes are bringing back the memories. I still have my Speed Series Team, which I coincidentally dug out of storage to clean up. If I remember correctly, I bought it new in '97, rode it for nearly a year and then GT recalled the frames since they were snapping at the headtube. The bike is all '97 with a '98 frame.
I barely rode the thing. It's all original, even down to the tires. The only thing that I did to it was cut down the seat post.
god damn she’s a beaut clark! i got a 2nd gen s&m sabbath, doesn’t have the frame stands, i was gonna get after at some point. i have a chrome s&m ditch fork and a OG black redneck as well, primo rod post and a few other bits. sucks i got rid of my triple walls though. wanted to rebuild with a little new school so i don’t break my back riding it with 7 inch rise bars lol. also gotta get a chris king headset for it because why not?
I ended up rebuilding my redline again! first rebuild was in 2016 and the 2024 version of this looks great!, I got the frame powder coated and all new parts, went with red anodized parts, came out awesome, I added decals again but here are some pics, This is how I should have done it the first time but I didn't have money to invest cause it cost a few bucks for the new parts but I'm so happy with how she came out! My pics are not staying on the website so im pretty sure the pics will disappear.
I made some reels on my GT heres one I like, This black one I built from scratch I mentioned this one in this thread earlier but the pics seem to disapear,

That looks sweet man! Love the box frames! I have 2, I bought a white one from a guy who builds custom bmx too and I built a black one that resembles Garry Elis GT,
