Re: Restoring My old RedLine ProLine Expert BMX
i got a 97 GT i need to restore, but from it being near the ocean for most of it life, there is rust on the forks, handle bars, and pedals. the frame is perfect. This thread is probably going to make me tear it down this weekend.

Yea well i threw on my chain, seat and wheels from my Pro Line Pro just temp because i was so bored and tempted one day and it rides smooth and its actually a bit smaller than my Pro Line Pro but i actually like it better imo. Just feels real good to bring it back to life and it looks 100x better now lol.
Ill get a new chain and seat soon and hopefuly update this and maybe continue this with restoring my Pro Line Pro now..

I'm about to start stripping the redline down and restoring it with new parts, going with red anodized parts it should look pretty cool once I'm done.

Re: Restoring My old RedLine ProLine Expert BMX
Dude those are sick! I had one on my old GT with carbon spin wheels!. There's one for $400 on eBay but again these GT parts are getting hard to find and people want a arm and leg. I might by the matching seat but it's $200 and I kind of like the vintage GT seat I have. Still period correct and much lighter for racing.
but since its a replica of Garrys GT I'll keep the speed series standard fork. The white GT is more for show where as the black GT is fully capable of racing as is. It's soooo light the white GT just needs better wheels to be race worthy. They are both built to be carpet queens for the most part. I'll ride the black GT every now and then but mostly ride my 2 red lines.

Man, these old bikes are bringing back the memories. I still have my Speed Series Team, which I coincidentally dug out of storage to clean up. If I remember correctly, I bought it new in '97, rode it for nearly a year and then GT recalled the frames since they were snapping at the headtube. The bike is all '97 with a '98 frame.
I barely rode the thing. It's all original, even down to the tires. The only thing that I did to it was cut down the seat post.
