I decided to create this thread to post the results of my RemFlex exhaust gasket install. Normally i wouldn't bother posting something simple like a gasket but when i was looking for a solution for my exhaust leak no one recommended this or anything similar.
My wife's car is a 99 Civic and after a B20 swap and Megan 4-1 header install i just could not get a good seal on he header to the head. The car had a horrible exhaust leak that made the car a bit annoying to drive. I attempted many rounds of re-torquing. I tried a new gasket, then 2 gaskets then 3 gaskets but it just would not seal. Obviously the flange on the header was not straight. I was looking into getting the header machined straight or fabbing up a solution using the stock manifolds but my wife was working 7 days a week and couldn't give up the car.
I was extremely frustrated and last week another google search turned up the REMFLEX gasket(HONDA Header/Exhaust Manifold Gasket). This is a gasket is designed to seal up where other gaskets fail. At $27.99 it was worth a shot. Pictures are below. The gasket is very thick and crushes to fill the gaps. The install was easy and much easier than trying to line up multiple gaskets and a header that's not exactly precise. Started the car and the stress melted away. Finally it sounds like a normal car and not a fart box. haha. We took a road trip yesterday and so far so good. No issues, the car is fun to drive again, the car even seems to run smoother. If i have any issues ill post them here but so far i highly recommend.
They send a sample in the kit to play around with before install.
