Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
What would you say are the fair market value on these four cars? Consider that they're all in impeccable exterior and interior condition, "10/10" if you will.
1995: DX coupe and DX hatch
2000: EX coupe and DX hatch
Now also consider, in this appraisal, all four cars have a rebuilt d16z6, rebuilt transmission, rebuilt Mitsubishi turbo and a cheaper EDU option (no hondata, just chrome or something) and good rebuilt suspension with aftermarket performance parts thrown in. All of this has less than 20,000 miles on the parts.
I raise this question because according to both KBB and NADA, the '95 models are worth over a thousand dollars more than the '00 models.
Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
working on putting a b20 into my ek coupe. found a local LS trans for sale but guy wont give me a $ amount. any idea what a good deal on one is? Located in Indiana.
Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
I've got a '92 VX I'm considering whether to repair or sell. The crank pulley (harmonic balancer pulley) key sheared off and tore up the crankshaft so the crank (and pulley) need replacement. Paint is worn but good, and drivers side window crank assembly needs a little attention.
Otherwise, the car is in great shape and has been a daily driver. 180K miles, original everything, A/C (converted to freon-134), lots of new parts, and nearly-new tires.
I've seen prices (for running vehicles) ranging from $1200 to $3500. If the value is too low, I'll likely fix it and keep it, but I'm trying to get an idea. (I'm in northern CA)
hello i just bought a 2000 honda civic ex manual transmission with 148k in very very very good condition MIDWEST CAR (how i can upload photos?)
i took my car to the dealer for a simple oil change COUPON
then the sales man with the technician came to me and said can you please came in we want to show you something HOOO NOO
they show me the brake lines was wet all way front to back, brake fluid was change before i bought it, looks really clean, and stop totally fine with a simple touch. the lines looks rusty but its 20 years old car. so they advise replace it
for the minimun of $2341 just the brake lines. also the transfluid brake fluid timing belt etc etc
everything was done by the previous owners with honda fluids....
the thing its i saw the radiator braket and other thing looks wet, i taught the guy spry w40 or some kind of stuff to prevent rust?
how much i need to pay for replace the brake lines???????
I found a 98 civic 4 door 5 speed for $400. No quarter rust front fender rusted. Clear coat peeling. She said it made a popping noise and then stalled. Got it started again but stalls at stop signs. The battery was dead and I couldn't open the hood so I literally have no idea if it will be fixable. The shifter is hard to put into gear but it does go in. I can get a motor and tranny for $183. There is also an B18B1 is the same yard for $105. Tranny housing is cracked though.
I could probably get her down to $200 so it would be just under $500 for the car, tow, title transfer and all that stuff.
Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
What is this car worth? 1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe 5 Speed. 256,xxx miles. All Stock & Original. Comes with 2 original keys, owner's manual, all maintenance records & it's up to date.
I also did a compression/leakdown test and results came back 205-210 PSI on all 4 cylinders.
Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
Ok, I've already recently bought the car, but I'm curious as to what others think.
I'm the proud new owner of a 2000 Civic LX Sedan, 5 speed, with 127k miles on it. AC works quite well, interior is in very good shape, car is totally original.
Dark green with beige/tan interior.
I know it's going to need tires, as they're old (though have some tread left), and slightly the wrong size at 185/70 R14 instead of 185/65 R14, and the previous owner suggested that I change the wires, cap, and rotor. He said the platinum plugs currently in there look great, so there's no need to change them. He also changed the TPS for me, after I'd bought the car, and that cleared up all the codes tied to the CEL (drove 400 miles since clearing the codes, and the CEL hasn't come back).
It has a spot of surface rust on the passenger fender about the size of my fingernail. Minor scuffs here and there on the paint, a parking lot ding or two, but it's overall the paint's in pretty good shape.
Curious as to whether I paid about the right price, overpaid, or underpaid. I'm in the South Jersey area, less than half an hour from Philadelphia.

About a thousand dollars, and thats pushing it. Quarter million plus miles = cheap for a reason

Depends on where it is. It's extremely clean, hasn't been, molested and doesn't appear to have been abused, plus it's an EX manual. I'd easily pay $2000 for it.
Just wondering what is the best engine swap for my car. It is a 2000 civic ex with a d16y8 manual. The engine I have in it right now is pretty much done for, it seems to have been neglected for its 245,000km life. On top of that I would really like to have something with a bit more power. At least the 150-160hp range and 140-150 torque. Now I know most of you will say b series, but when I look around for engines I keep coming across cheap f23a's and f22b's. For like around $500. I'm wondering if that is still going to be a good deal all said and done. My buddy also has a h22a laying around too that I might be able to grab for around that. Also wondering if these swaps are pretty tough. Thanks.

Go for b series because they are far easier to swap in. Go for the b18b engine if you are on a budget. You can get them cheap. They don't have a lot of hp but do have torque. If money isn't much of a problem just go for any b18c motors. Don't go for b16a motors because they lack torque.
Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
I have a 1999 b16a2 from my 99 civic SI. Got into an accident and pulled out the motor etc. Motor has 160,xxx miles. Still healthy and vtec kicks in strong. No grind or pop out. I know that you won't find many b16a2 or b18c1 motors that are healthy.
How much does b16a2 motor with transmission go for?
Would it be worth more if i sold it separately?
Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
Just wheels? In pristine condition, I usually see sets of them sell for $200. I've seen them for $150 and less but usually that's because of condition issues. I see them for sale with peeling clear coat and or curb rash more often than not.
Tires usually add to the cost, better tires, fresher tires, more cost. I've seen mint Si's with 'like-new' tires sell for aprox $400 more than once.

My buddy blew up his b16a motor from racing. I'm assuming he misshift or downshift wrong. He's selling the 99 civic si for 1500. I know that it comes with quick release and skunk2 catback exhaust. So that's a plus. The body is still clean. Minimal dent. The car hasn't been driven that much until he blew the motor. I was thinking the transmission could still be fine then i could just swap in b18c motor in.. Since the motor blew up do you guys think the tranny or clutch is still good?
