Default 99 Civic Si - Question about dist. ignition coil...

Looked up how to check my distributor coil and from what I can tell I think it's out of spec (second pic), can anyone confirm? Car runs rough, sputters dies when I give it gas and then becomes very hard to start. Checked plugs, wires, cap & rotor & all look good. Would this cause my car to run like that or should I be looking elsewhere?

99si b16. Aftermarket distributor.

20K Ohms not 200K Ohms is the proper scale for the test in the top picture.

For the test in the second picture, you must subtract the meter's internal resistance from the Ohm reading.

Internal resistance = Ohm reading while touching two meter probes together.

Any CEL codes?

Tried that, wouldn't show a reading.

Oh ok, did that (first pic below).

Any CEL codes?

I don't have a way to pull them up. :-(
Just went and picked up a another cheap volt meter, last on crapped out on me. So it appears the coil is good?

Try again with new meter.

I don't have a way to pull them um. :-(
I bet you do:

After doing the arithmetic, what do you conclude now?

.5, that would be in spec correct?

Redo the first test using the proper Ohm range.

Ok @ 20k I get 15.28 (A to Secondary).

A to B @ .5 would then be out of spec (to low)?

The 0.5 Ohm reading is tricky. It may or may not be out of spec. The 15.28 kOhm reading is obviously good.

Given that your engine runs, though poorly, I think you should troubleshoot other possible causes.

Stock B16a2 in a stock 99 Civic Si? Any mods?

Any CEL codes?

I tested with my multi-meter again was seeing varying results (very cheap multi-meter). I took my dist. to a local auto parts store where they tested it and confirmed it was bad (the coil). I was
able to get another one and just finished installing and setting the timing, seemed to do the trick. Thanks again for the info, greatly appreciated!
