Depends on how much water is in there. Depending on the amount I'd recommend the following ways:

A wet-dry shop vac (remember to remember the filter) will remove any large puddles.

Use an extractor to pull the liquid out of the carpet and any other fabric.

Turn the heat on full blast to try to dry it all out or use a hair dryer or sit it in the sun (this might not work in the winter months). Don't forget under the seats if it's wet there as well.

You have to be careful to dry it all out ASAP or get ready to combat mold (which can be very difficult to get rid of!).

How did the water leak into the car? Where exactly?

Maybe also look into purchasing/renting a de-humidifier.

i would use a wet vac to remove all the water, and remove the carpet as well. Let the carpet air dry outside for at least a week. This would be a good time to rent a carpet cleaner, from like homedepot and what not... This way you can clean that carpet with shampoo and make it smell nice and look nice.

Remove that airfilter in that wet vac, or you'll be sorry.

You could also drill a small home in the floor board at its lowest point to drain it. you can get small rubber plugs at hardware stores to plug the whole. Just make sure to paint the small area around the whole so it doesn't rust later. Just another option

There are lots of reasons that water could be leaking in.

- Moonroof drains clogged (often causes water to overflow and drip from the moonroof while driving or overflow into the trunk).

- Bad window seals (for windshields this can mean you need to remove the glass, put in a new "liquid" seal, put in a new exterior seal and reassemble it all).

- Bad door seals (pricey new, might require removal of the door).

- Crack in the body sealer (doesn't seem too common, especially into the passenger compartment).

- Heater core (causes a leak into the front passenger footwell).

- Taillight seals (causes a wet trunk and possibly damp rear seat from sloshing water).

It's hard to just guess the exact cause. You're going to have to look carefully where there is water, where it goes up the insides of the car, what exactly is wet (work up) and find the leak.

If you dry it all up on the inside and strip away any fabrics and plastics from the interior you can do a leak test.

Does your heater work OP? This could very well be the problem if it does not.

Remove as much carpeting, upholstery and panels in the area of the suspected problem as possible.

Make sure you have a flashlight. Having a friend helps a lot too.

Dry the area as much as possible. You probably don't even want condensation if you can help it. Doing this in rain probably also won't help.

One person gets in the car and watches with the flashlight to help highlight the area.

The other person stands outside the car with a cup or a hose (with no spray nozzle! the pressure will cause water to go through otherwise good seals!). This person starts at the lowest point that's suspected to be the problem area. This could be a taillight or low on the door panel, for example. Pour the water on this lowest point.

The person within the car watches carefully on the other side. Watch for any drips or streams.

If the leak is not found, try again, but higher.

Though it's a pain, it can narrow down your problem area within inches.

I used this same method to find a leak my rear windshield.

I tried to list as many problems with water leaks into the cabin (maybe one day someone else will find this thread), but I don't think it's the heater core since he's having flooding on the driver side of the car, not the passenger side.

Thanks for both of those post ups.
I took out my driver seat to dry up as much as the carpet as I could, and I'm going to give it a try with what you said about pouring water at the lowest point. I'll post it up if i find anything.

Disconnect the battery so as not to cause more electrical damage. Then check whether the ECU and distributor/plug wires are wet. If so, dry them and their plugs.

If you're heater isn't working and your passenger front floor is wet it's almost certainly your heater core.

NOFX has it right on the friend with a flashlight suggestion. I had a trunk leak and thought it was drain-tubes at first...tried everything I could by myself and then got a friend with a flashlight...ended up being body sealer around fender wells.
