06 tl a/c blowing snowflakes!!freezing up
i work in the service department and we had a customer come in with a 06 tl...we replaced the a/c compressor/etc.....its working now but now the compressor seems to not be kicking off at all...runs all the time.....the only time it will kick off is when you turn it off...if you run the fan on low the condensor will freeze over in the dash and start blowing fog/snowflakes out the vents....eventually air will stop coming out the vents and you have to turn the a/c off for it to defrost....when it defrosts, water is pouring out under the car....we evacuated the system again and refilled per specs....i'm thinking something is telling it to not cycle? any info would be appreciated...thanks
You have a bad expansion valve, its flooding the evaporator. The job of the expansion valve is to regulate the flow of freon into the evaporator. The high pressure switch signals the PCM to shut off the compressor when a XX amount of pressure is built in the high side. Since the expansion valve is stuck open the high side never has a chance to build enough pressure to reach the cut off threshold which keeps the compressor running continously.

You should be able to see this with some guages hooked up.

shouldn't a service department know this? This is part of the reason I try to stay away from dealers and/or bigger auto mechanic shops. They only know how to fix something if it's in a book and never really think outside their comfort zone known as a guidebook
btw, I'm not personally attacking you, just ranting.
I have a honda civic right now that is freezing the line up on the low side. We have replaced compressor, expansion valve, evaporator sensor, binary switch, control panel, etc. The compressor will still not cut off unless you hit the off button. Only thing we haven't changed is the multipex box and the ecm. Any more ideas ?
