Default SPfab Spoolin Performance traction bars REVIEW

I wanted to give my feedback on the SPfab Spoolin Performance traction bars. I personally own 3 vehicles ( 2003 WRX , 1995 240sx , 1994 Honda Civic ) and done alot of modifications to each vehicle. Of course there are predictable expectations when you do certain modifications that there is no need to do reviews on ( ex. turbocharging, coilovers, engine management ) but when I did my test drive with these traction bars, I could not believe the upgraded performance that they made. I'm more use to driving the WRX which is very easy to drive , just hold the wheel straight , stomp the gas and it will go straight because of the all wheel drive.

But the first time I drove my boosted Civic at only 250whp I was very disappointed with the steering and over-all handling of the vehicle where I was worried to even make more power. Why make more power when I can't even harness the power ! LOL ! Even if I hold the wheel straight, the car would "wiggle" left and right which I was really turned-off by. Then I did some research on traction bars. And with the way the economy is now, you have to buy parts wisely. I checked out many different traction bars and SPfab traction bars was the most attractive for many reasons ( build quality , true bolt-on with no radiator modification requirements , built-in tow hooks , and most importantly their "through hold design tabs" where competitors do a "C" style which are known to have the welds break off ) Oh yea , and the price is very competitive. https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...=traction+bars

I installed the traction bars this past Saturday and took it out for a spin and I can attest that it's a night and day difference. The car is 10x much more enjoyable and I feel much more confident and in control of the vehicle and ready for more power. This is one of the best mods I have ever invested in.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

- Billy

I know this may come off un-knowledgeable, but that's ok because I don't know everything. When you speak of traction bars the are more than often referred to helping launches or initial acceleration?

I was curious to know if traction bars helped improve handling, or the front suspension characteristics over all? For events like daily driving, auto events, and spirited driving, Things of that nature.

I'm not a 1/4mile type individual and I've never really engulfed my thoughts around this item, simply for the fact I've never heard of it mentioned outside of drag events. Any hindsight would be appreciated.

Not to be off topic but their site said the traction bar fits all civic except 99-00 si? They dont seem to have one for Si model... people with Si like me seems hopeless. Can't really find anyone that makes it for that model.

reason why is the 99 civic si has a 1 piece front lower control arm
all other models have a 2 pice. so there is a bolt that we can remove to place our C-bracket.

you can use this on a 99 civic si if you weld the bracket to the control arm. but we will not assume any responsibility if anything happens. It is under the understanding that that customer knows modifying their car may cause harm or fault in the cars function.

When the time comes and the money is right I will be purchasing one of these. The info. I read was very insightful. I am not an advocate for any company, but this is a very worth wild item for the spirited driver. That link above is a great read for handling gurus.

Power<Handling

It also seems to be a cost efficient alternative to spherical bushings, which is good. You can still retain daily driveability. If you daily drive your cars. When I get my car, and I begin modding ( I plan to do the suspension components first) I will budget for this bar.
