all motor d16z6 p29 build 12:1 Compression
just reached 2000 miles on my build, and using the stock ecu. no problems what so ever. its a daily driver and it runs great on 92. it only ran a 15.30 but not sure what kind of hp it has.
ok i have used alot of sites and most all show the same but the truth is that if you have all oem/stock parts and just do a p29 piston swap you get a 13.579559196407402:1 compression ratio. and remember to set the gasket bore to 0.50 for stock headgaskets

So, I've got a D16Z6 with open exhaust (completely open, no cat or muffler), aem intake, and absolutely nothing else done to the motor (I mean nothing). What pistons from another d-series can I safely swap in without out changing ANYTHING else, and what kind of gains hp (ballpark) can I expect to see.
Again, all I want to do is change pistons and leave the current connecting rods, stock head gasket, stock deck height, everything, including the stock ecu.
I've looked at the compression calculators, and can figure different compression ratios for different pistons without changing anything else in my setup, but I don't know if you can swap any/all of them in and go hard (road racing) without problems. I guess my point is (and why I think I'm repeating myself) is, are there some that you can swap, but also have to mess with timing and fuel curves to run them safely (which I don't want to deal with at this point), and are there any that I can swap in, not mess with anything else, and see any gain in power without screwing up my engine (i.e. blowing it up or damaging it in any way) running it hard in a race weekend. So far, with the stock motor, I haven't had a single engine problem other than a few sensors going bad that were easily replaced, and I'd rather have a reliable, un-blown up engine than go faster, but if there's a holy grail here, I'd like to know about it.
TIA

Singlecam mitch i was wondering if you can give me ur email. I admire what you have done with a singlecam and would like to make something similar to my d16z6. I would like to talk about the things you have done to it. I was considering buying a b16 japanese motor but its costs around 2 grand and well if i can make 13.0 or 13.7 with my motor i would be more than happy heh.. I was looking at the best pistons and cams to create the highest compression. Also my engine has 201,000 miles runed.. so maybe i have to do some other things to it.
Really admire ur work on ur engine.. hope u write soon
Just in case my email is angeloski3@hotmail.com i also have msn... i would like to build an engine like u did
