HELp? VTEC or no VTEC.. is the question?
I need to know how I can tell that the ECU i bought is actually a p28 ECU from a 92 civic EX/Si w/ vtec. I know what a OBDI ecu looks like, but how can i tell is has VTEC. It doesnt have the sticker on the side that indicates is a p28 or are all 92-95 ECU p28? I just want to make sure i didnt buy a CX/DX/other.
hmmm...possibly the pinout is different for the two because obviously the p28 would have a couple extra wires for vtec and vtec oil pressure. I think you can find ecu pinouts on hondaswap.com
Also have someone who has a 92-95 Non VTEC ecu open there's up and take a close up picture, then you could compare that with yours. Again i would think that the p28 would have some extra modules/chips inside for the VTEC.

If the sticker on the top of the connector says P28-A01, unless someone changed that sticker, then its a 5 speed SOHC Vtec ECU for a D16Z6 motor.
Anyone who might not know this, certain P05 and P06 ECUs (92-95 Civic CX and DX) can be converted rather cheaply for Vtec operation.
