Wendover Pro
Holy Sh*t!!! Did you guys see the stomping Kevin McCormick put on everyone else at Wendover? OMIGOD. He beat Fauth by over a second. WOW! Very impressive. He also beat FS by a considerable margin and ES by a mile (3.5 seconds).
Did weather have anything to do with it or was he just that awesome?!?

And is that Matt Grainger running an R in CSP??? He took 3rd.
I talked with david, and he said he had one wheel in back toe out. He was wondering why he was fighting overstear. Having said that Kevin did a great job.
I was there, in my SM integra, and couldn't keep the front 205's planted in the transistions. I also did the school on street tires, and it through me off, trying to 'drive right', but it was VERY fun. No excuses though, it was a lot of fun for my first prosolo.

Wow - he did it on his last runs too - His last left side run improved by almost 6 tenths and his right side by 3. Also he was 2!!! seconds ahead of Larry Fine. Looks like Larry had a crummy Sunday with a DNF and a red light.
First off, let me give Kevin all the credit in the world. He drove REALLY well at Wendover. Had my car been setup well, I don't know if I would have had enough for him...though I guarantee I would have been closer!
Now, let me pull out the excuses...
The course at Wendover was almost exclusively transitions. In my experience, you do NOT want an unstable (loose) car on that type of course. On Saturday night I found that I had over 1/4" toe-out in the rear and it was causing HUGE amounts of oversteer...so much that I was having to countersteer just about every time I turned in! Oh well, I still turned in some pretty good times (I screwed up the finish on one run that would have probably given me the fast time on the right course for GS...doh!)
As far as Larry Fine in the WRX: He needs some stiffer shocks. He currently has KONIs, but he is in the process of putting on some stiffer versions. His car needs it. Although his car wasn't completely setup, I still don't think the WRX will be able to hang with the ITR, especially on a normal Solo2 course where the launch doesn't matter as much.

I noticed that Corey grabbed first in SM. He's really fast
He and Sharon have the car setup so it doesn't understeer so damn much. Even with the spring rates that I'm running it still understeers. They're running over 1000 lbs/in in the rear I believe.

It wouldn't suprise me if Corey took the national championship in SM this year. He's a great driver. I know other SM drivers in Audi's that are not as fast as he is.
You should see their custom carbon fiber hood... really pretty.

I've seen that hood uncoated before. Makes all the stuff that is available for Hondas look like a joke. Vortrag makes it. The quality of the gel and fibre is so nice it's insane. It's also about 4 times the cost of a honda CF hood. Vortrag makes some really nice kits, it's just that they take forever. That's where Corey, Sharon, and I got our brakes and suspensions.
Sharon, his gf, is also a good driver. She drives very well out on a track. They came to a Quattro club event out at Mid-O last year. We had a blast.

Hi all,
David pointed me to this board, so I though I'd join
David's a great driver, and a great competitor, so managing to be that far ahead of him was very unsual. When we measured his toe on Saturday afternoon, we now know why
I will say that the course at Wendover was one of my favorite Pro Solo courses, but of course I'm biased. It drover faster than I expected, and was great for left foot braking (ya listening David???
I was surprised Larry Fine was not faster, but he is still developing his car. A good comparison will be this weekend at the Seattle National Tour - Paul Eklund (two time ES champion in a Celica GT) will be there in a WRX.
Good to find another Type-R friendly list
