We won!
What a crazy weekend for me. I took two shift trades so that I could be @ Thunderhill Friday thru Sunday. Friday = practice. Sat. = my co-driver's cousin using/renting the car to license test. Sun = 4 hour enduro
Thursday morning I get off of work. I need to hunt down a harness because the one I sent out to get rewebbed never made it back to me. Don't ask...long story.
I also have to install a new reman-ed front caliper because the first one was bad. I get that stuff done, load the car & all the spares. Crap! It midnight by the time I get to bed.
Friday. We get to the track for afternoon practice. Derek (my co-driver) is able to show his cousin the line since he has never been there. They only get a couple of laps. The cousin goes out in the second session. Derek goes out in tht third. He is just about to pass a Miata. All of a sudden, he is going backwards. He limps the car in. Clattering noise! Oh crap.....it sure sounds like a bearing (rod). Lets park it before it is too late. If we do it now, we can rebuild it.
Sat. Trying to find a engine. No Thanks! I don't need a engine & tranny for that much. I call some friends so that they can run their car so that the 'team' can get points for the season. "You run our car".
Sun. We win E2 in their car! It is our fourth race. It is our first win! Now I just have to have my engine rebuilt, install it & broken in before the first weekend in Aug. Oh yeah, met Frank who had to borrow a spare plug wire.

I was planning on it. We are right in the middle of the champ. race though. Depending on how you add the points, we are in either 1st or 2nd. I want to be able to show our sponsors some results!
Mike,
Congratulations - you've proved that once you're crazy enough to race, the next step like racing a borrowed car doesn't seem so crazy you'd pass on it rather than not race, and then you go and take a win.
Scott, who thinks thinks you're a clinical case....you know that though don't you......

that he helped us for two years in the pits and as a crew guy (or was it three). He asked if I would drive up and run my car but it was really impossible and it was because of his hard work with us for such a long time...AND the fact that although we knew he couldnt just write a check and replace our car if something happened that he WOULD make good when he could...well I hope it is a testament to the fact that helping people and getting into it through hard work and helping others DOES pay off.
I was happy to lend him my car and thrilled (and a bit jealous hehehehe) that they won. Since we havent been able to race since the beginning of the year...its good to have the car out there working instead of sitting in the garage rusting.
Congrats again Mike and Derek!

Yep. It was the Allegro Racing Team car. One more 'race winner' sticker for it. The car is actually used to being in the winner's circle. We just guided it this time.
The engine is strong & the suspension well sorted. Let me know if you ever consider selling it.... For the record, my time crewing was well spent. I learned a ton of info from both Pete & Mike. There are so many little things that make it all go smoothly. We were lucky enough to have Shawn & Garrett crew for us. Good pit stops/crew work can make or break you @ an enduro. I swear that we had the best stops!
BTW, when they ran the car at "the beginning of the year" it was to a win @ the Buttonwillow night enduro.

a win is awesome!! yah sorry i didn't stick around, it was just too damn hot. i couldn't find you guys after the enduro started so i didn't get to say good bye. thanks again for the wire loan.
since the race car is sohc vtec too... do you need to brake to settle the car for T6 or is a well timed hard lift enough? how about T9? is it possible to nailed it with only a hard lift??
i corner weighted the hatch yesterday (cross weight was a bit off it was 45.x% originally) and i'll get it aligned today. debating between camber of -2.5 F -2.0 or -3.0 F -2.5 rear... this is a street car but i figure i got those cheap hx/vx tires to burn for normla street use...
i wonder if the car will really feel that much different? i'm gonna play with some data acq this weekend...

Hey, isn't that right before the start of the Buttonwillow enduro?
As far as pics of my car, I am not sure how to put them on the site. It is a yellow 5th Gen coupe.

You need something like a Fotki account and then you post the image URL between the code which is added by the "image" button. [URL]
