on throttle clunking?
since i have never had a cv go bad, i'm not exactly sure what they sound like, but i think lrp owned my LF cv joint. when im on the throttle mildly i get a clunking till i get off the throttle. it happens when going in a straight line and sometimes when turning. this is a bad/going cv, yes?

no, its not the CV. bad CV's are a definite "ticking" noise. is the clunking coming from one side? could be a lot of things, bad bushing, loose bolt (probably), loose tie rod nut. perhaps worst of all, your shock could be going bad. look under and see if there is any fluid in the wheel well. i've been there with the clunking, had all the above, but it was never my CVs, always thought it could be until i really heard bad CVs.
clarification- slow in 1st gear it goes clunk clunk clunk clunk. clunk repittion increases whith wheel speed. when i lift off, it stopps.
does the sound get louder if you make a turn while at the same speed?
If your going striaght and in 1st gear then completly let of the gas does it clunk once and then when you get back on the gas it clunks again? or
Its clunking all the time you have foward movment?

ok. so i tightend up everything (balljoint nut and hub nut) and everything seemed to be within proper torque specs (i did use a torque wrench) and now the noise is more of a metal scraping/dragging sound and its pritty constant (happens @ any speed) and changes tone when i make turns. so im thinking that i've toasted a wheelberring. i'm gonna take it to my mechanic and have him give me the final verdict. plus i wanna do new wheelberrings and balljoints anyway. so i guess now is as good a time as any.

lift the wheel up, put it in neutral and spin that sucker. youll hear and feel it if its the wheel bearing. and also shake it a bit at 3 and 6 o clock positions, there should be no play. if it is, i suggest you only drive it to the shop at most, you dont want to break and axle.
i shook it on the ground (autox tech inspection style) and i dont feel anything. hopefully it will stop raining so i can check it out. i'll probably jack it and spin the wheel tomorrow after school. i'm not drivin it till i get this figured out. i dont want my wheel to fall off

speaking of wheels falling off. the last time i did the clutch on my car i couldn't get the passenger side axle back in the hub enough to get the nut on. so i drove it around the block twice trying to get the thing to "fall" back in place. as i'm tightening the hub nut upon my return, i asked myself "what was holding the hub and bearing on?"
