Default Tech question- head removal

Just a quick question, can I remove the head from a B16a in car, with out taking off the crank pulley? It looks like I have to get the lower timing belt cover off, and the only way is to remove the pulley, which sucks as I am almost completely apart and have absolutely no way to get that damn pulley off. I am trying to replace the headgasket.
Can I pull the cam gears off, with the belt around them and have any luck getting it back on like that, I have a feeling no...

Loosen the timing belt tensioner. There is a little cover for the bolt under the motor mount... 14mm hex head on the bolt.

Make sure hte motor is at TDC before you do this....

One trick is to zap strap the timing belt to the cam gears in several places. This way you can slide the gears off and on knowing the timing isn't being adjusted.

Good idea!

I have always just marked it with a black marker on the cam gear and a white grease pen on the timing belt.

Also, on reassembly there is a hole on top of each cam rail (or cap, depending on vtec or not) that that lines up with a hole in the cam at TDC - drop a 5mm pin punch through the holes and the cam is now locked in at TDC, easy for getting the belt back on

To get the crank pulley bolt out, is it right hand (standard) thread or left hand??
