I feel kind of bad that nobody has any good info for you - not that I do. Here's the little bit that I can tell you...
The best place to start would be the specific rules for the series that you are interested in. Get in touch with the group that sanctions the events (CASC?) to be sure that you can even run a swapped CX - you might be bummed to find out that you can't.
The rules will certainly set specific limits on what is legal, which will help you narrow your choices probably. Attend some races and offer to help out a team that runs Honda products - there SHOULD be some up there, somewhere. They can help you learn about what's legal and what works, steering you clear of the bad info on "the street" - since a lot of the decisions about "what's hot" are based on image rather than function.
You might find that the best answer is to run something besides your existing car. It is ALMOST ALWAYS less expensive to buy a prepared car than to build one, even if your time is only worth a couple of Loonies per hour!
Learn a lot, make good decisions, and have fun!
