shock break in?
i just got the new suspension in and i was wondering if i have to break inthe show at all ie-run them on a low dampening setting for a few hundred miles? i cant seem to find my paperwork from tokico and it wasnt that informative when i read it. i did a search but didnt come up with anything.

you shouldn't have any worries either way. if it makes you feel better, drive on them a bit at the lower settings. most shocks will weep a little as the shaft seals seat completely, but nothing that you should need special "break-in" care.

weep, thats exaclty the sound that my new kybs make. ive been thinking of a way to describe the sound to people and see if it was normal.
when i had just put them on they made the weeping noise, and then yesterday i turned up the setting to 3 and it made that noise a bit when i started driving it.
thanks

"weep"-as in, loose a little hydraulic fluid. a squeak is different, but again, if its a new shock, especially a lower quality hi-po shock like the kyb's, a little squeak when new shouldn't be of much concern.

TEIN suggests a break in period for their dampers. They suggest not to do any abrupt manouvers like quick steering imputs for some time....i cant remember how long. IMO, its always good to break in any new mechanical part.

going to vir that weekend dan. the car feels good. i habe to lower the front a touch but other than that its cool. it doesnt ride harsh at all with the shox on 3. but im sure on 5 theyll be stiff. we shall see.
