Roll bar effectiveness?
Ok maybe I am starting a huge problem, but I have been looking into doing some HPDE's and learning how to drive at the tracks. So I thought it is a very smart idea to buy a rollbar. Here's my question.... With my helmet on, my head rubs against the roofliner. The autopower and kirk roll bars are slightly below the liner... Do you see a problem here? If you were to roll wouldn't your head still get crunched if you are wearing 5 pt harnesses?
If it really worries you, you can get a seat that allows a lower seating position.
Being comfortable in/with your car is a high priority on the track IMO.

Well, it would certainly be better with the rollbar than without... but yes, it's not an ideal situation. Ideally, you would find a way to get lower in the car. I know how you feel though, I'm in the same situation.
Ideally, the rollbar/rollcage would be above your helmeted head. The problem with both of the cages mentioned is that they are supposed to be used with the interiors intact. You could have some perches made to raise the cage.
It also depends on weather or not you get just a 4-point "bar", or a full cage. The 4-point wouldn't be an issue since all the tubes are behind you.

I agree - a 4 point rollbar will usually be behind your head (unless you're built like Shaq). A full cage in a daily driven street car is bad idea.

So I've developed an "Italian" driving position for the ITR. I sit too close to the steering wheel and then recline the seat a bit.

I'm Italian, but I don't do this. Then again, I'm not 7' tall

All about trade offs. I cage is better then a bar, a weld in is better then a bolt in, etc etc.
For a dual HPDE/daily driver car I think a roll bar is a good idea. Better then nothing and allows you to properly use a 5pt harness. The seating position with stock seats is a small issue, but can be addressed with a properly mounted race seat.
As people have said, a cage in a daily driver is not generally a good idea. If you can afford it, try to get a dedicated race car. If not, a bar, a good seat, and harnesses are a good way to go.

True, but the bar limits the crush to an inch or whatever and the seat compression will absorb your movement, unless you're in a CF bucket.
It's better than nothing.
