Racing School
Hey sorry i dont have an itr i have a civic, but i figured you guys probably have more experiance with this. I have heard of the SCCA but I am curious if you guys know anything about racing schools in new york? I am getting interested in autocross, and well it seems that everyone says that the best investment is learning how to "DRIVE" i consider myself a decent driver but certainly not exceptional.
I really want to develope my skills and i just need some timps on how to become a better driver. So whether its school or just running around in my civic, do any of you guys have any insight? Thanks

also check out the Road Racing/ AutoX forum on this board. lots of good stuff as well. Go to some HPDE's and whatnot.
I am starting out as well and the ITR Expo will be my first Track session.

Go do an auto-x anyway. It's only $20 and be sure to tell a few of the people that it's your first event. That's what I did. You can learn alot about what your car is really capable of. Another thing, don't feel like you have to have a super fast car to have fun, chances are, at any auto-x you'll see stock Civics even.
Some regions have local schools toward the beginning of the race calendar. I think Philly and South Jersey are both holding one around March/April timeframe. You may also consider the evolution driving school, though you might get more out of the experience after you've autocrossed a few times.
If and when you go, ride with an instructor, find someone there who likes to help, and talk to everyone you can. Don't be shy. Say "I'm a noobie and I need help", most people will jump at the chance to help.
Good luck and have fun!... also you can check out my website for some info. too. 8)
