Default question reguarding macpherson

went to get rsx with flt-a2's aligned and when they took it off the ground, the front wheels had lots of right to left play(in the same movement as when the steering wheel was being turned) but individually. nothing was loose in the strut-to-knuckle area. the bottom of the shock was turning with the wheel as its supposed to, but there was play. could this be a pre-load issue (not enough)?

i think the spring can be preloaded on the bottom somewhere. i talked to people when we were having other trouble with them poping and they said the pre-load was too much.

Make sure the top nut is tight. It's the nut that you can see from the engine bay and sits on the very top of the strut. Mine was loose on the teins and tightening this took care of the extra play.

I'm sure the JICs are similar in design.
