Just goes to show that good things come in both big & small packages.
Oil filter for the race car vs. oil filter for the tow rig.

4 quarts of oil for the race car vs. 4 gallons for the tow rig.

Nobody ever said maintaining a diesel was cheap. But so far, the benefits outweigh the annoyances.

There's a problem with that?

i've been using mobil 5w-30 in my H1 car forever; at least 10k track miles. no oil problems.
i've been using mobil 5w-30 in my Probe; almost 200k miles and at least 40k track miles; running perfect.
thats the facts! i'd say, for me at least, that the 5w-30 has been no problem!

It's old thinking that a higher viscosity oil is automagically going to provide better internal protection. This is another case of racing drivers thinking that they can re-engineer something in 20 minutes in their garage, that the manufacturer spent $ millions figuring out.

You should always use 5W30 in a Honda race car.

I'm a 5w30 user in street and race Hondas too. I use Mobil 1 if synthetic will stay in the engine, Castrol GTX dino if the synthetic disappears too fast becasue of wear.
I used to do a lot of work for Valvoline Oil and spent a lot of time bending the ear of Norm Hudeki, their master oil guru. He always stressed that most modern engines that were made to have thin stuff like 5w30 also tend to have very small oil passages and running heavier oil under the false impression of better protection can actually be detrimental because of flow resrictions, expecially when cold.
I first learned about oil use from my old school "thicker is better" stepfather whose vast racing experience is dated 20+ years. Back then my cars had more oil problems, more worn valve guides, etc. When you get advice, make sure it still applies to current understandings and products.

Yep. Mobil 1 Synthetic 5-30 to be exact. A better question is... You don't?
The GTX is what I use in Mrs. Johng's Pathfinder. The manual for the Pathfinder recommends 5-30, and it even says to use 5-30 on the oil filler cap. Imagine that.
