LMAO......your probably right, I know nothing.
thanks for making my point clear that its NOT a easy/fun/feasible project to do in your spare time in the garage....as the original poster made it seem. Obviously a professional frame shop will/should be employed to aid in the rebuild.
As for my experience.....thanks for the assumption that I was a total dimwit. I wont waste my time with a rundown of actual racecars and teams that I have been involved with and helped rebuild completely when demolished. Rest assured, I know what it will take to do the job properly.

lol Well I'm glad you got a laugh out of it because for a moment I thought my post was a tad too politically harsh, confrontational (whatever it's called).
We both agree that it does not look at all like a hard job for a body shop. Still it is a major inconvenience for Warren. I'm sure he could have been happier if this had not happened. But hey, $hit always happens in racing.
But I can't say that we both agree on your other comment (below), since I have nothing to agree with. I don't know you, so that's why I did not pass judgment on you even in the previous post. That's what: "Don't know to how many races you've been to" means, at least to me. I do not like people who judge before they know, about as much as I don't like those who make up stuff or distort the truth, and you can rest assured that I'm not one of them. But seeing someone get called an idiot by someone else who doesn't know anything about other person definitely fits this profile, won't you say? Just because I mentioned that Tim (who I do know because I've seen him at the tracks) has been racing for a while does not make *you* any more or less competent. What you think of yourself is really not my business. If dimwit or common moron is what you see fit, that's fine with me. I don't know you well enough to either agree or disagree with you on that one.
Anyway sorry Warren to dirty your thread with such a pointless off topic post but I couldn't help it. Good luck with your car.

..that ITR looks very fixable, considering it must be very malleable by now
Seriously, hook a chain to the LF, find a good oak tree, presto. A little white racer's tape and a bit more JB Weld and you're at VIR!
Hope you get it all back together, man. Do hope you can get it to the track next month, and most of all, glad you and Tom are both OK.
FWIW, the damage looks a little less severe than when a confused octogenarian ran his Fleetwood through a redlight and nailed me in the right rear. They had to replace most of the rear suspension, the right rear quarter panel, and a lot of the rear subframe bits. The insurance company paid around $8k to restore it to brand new condition, so I would think Warren's repairs should total less than that, even if he had it all done by a shop.
I'm shooting for <1k. Repairs on the cheap. Dirt cheap. I know too many scummy IT racers to pay that much to fix this car
Just get my shock towers in the right place, and the engine sitting in the right place. The rest is just decoration.

Warren's right. Fixing a racecar is a whole lot cheaper than fixing a street car. The parts can be aftermarket and there is no time wasted in trying to make everything fit perfectly. It's a racecar!

Those are the most important things: making sure the engine mounts are in the correct postion and the shock towers are even. Unless you like the engine vibrating the car to hell!
it should pull straight, no doubt. my car was hit (6 months after i drove it off the lot, grrrrrrr!) by a woman who ran a redlight and tagged my front left bumper. my frame was pushed inward so it touched the engine pulley and crushed my beloved a/c. well, 1 month of driving a mitsubishi galant, 4 body panels, 1 frame straightener, and almost $8k of her insurance money - my car runs straight and true.
Progress report
I'm not really sure how you're supposed to remove a radiator core support, but SGT and I just air chiseled the fawker off. Not exactly pretty, but it's off. The body shop guy will probably ask who did this, and then put us on his list to NEVER hire us
Much to the dismay of Scott and Karl, all original body panels will be used. They really aren't in that bad of shape. A few tweaks here and there, and some touch up paint, errr, well... maybe a lot of touch up paint, and it'll be great at 100mph/100ft! Funny, that number keeps going up. I think it was about 50/50 at the start of the season.
edit: SGT w/ an air chisel is scary. He gets this evil ear to ear grin as the metal moves like butter.

Unknown yet. I still have to get the car pulled, and find some way to mangle on the new core support. Err, we kind of mangled one hole that the bumper bolts to, so we have to figure out another way to mount it.
Toasted at least 2 motor mounts.
