Not Guilty!

For those who've been following my sad racecar crash saga (following? More like getting it rammed down your throat), this morning was my court hearing to contest the negligent infraction I received on that faitful morning way back in February.
I arrived to court early and collected my materials and my thoughts. My name was called, and I step over to the podium shaking like a leaf. I start by giving the judge a verbal antacid pill explaining that I'm fully insured and that the utility is fully reimburced for the damage (this helps him realize that the issue doesn't have a sidecar and the only issue at hand is a one vehicle accident).
I then explained the accident and the unforseen hazard (black ice), and showed him pictures of the street area. The pictures clearly show the corner and the "canopy" of trees creating a shady area where moisture and ice can form since the street is always wet there.
I had a few issues with the officer's statement, but he told me that was irrelivant. He then said he didn't believe I was negligent and if anything, I may have been traveling too fast for the conditions, but he didn't think I was guilty of anything so his ruling was "not guilty". No fine, no ticket, no record, no higher insurance rates!
John -- who thanks you for listening, and who made a offer on a new/used car this afternoon.

it would really suck if you got more "-" stuff in your life and then got a freaking ticket
i try to encourage as many people as possible to fight tickets. i think in general 60 % of people get off clean (not bad odds)
