New to ECHC
Hello. I would like to introduce myself to the group. My name is Beno Rubin & I am the new owner of John's #88 Civic. I have heard many great things about ECHC and the people who race in the series.
I have 7 years of autocross experience in an '87 Civic Si but no road racing experience as of yet. I would like to start competing in ECHC as soon as I complete the required driver's schools. I will also have many questions regarding the rules and regulations regarding this series so please be patient.
I plan on coming to VIR Sat. evening and leaving Sunday evening. This will give me a chance to meet everybody and see what I am getting myself into.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. You got yourself a great car at a great price.
The best advice I can give you is take your time! I came in last fall with 10+ years of autocross experience. I did 6 track events, did the comp school and got my license. I still feel overwhelmed at times and I know I have a LOT of work before I am even close to being competitive. Looking back I would have done more HPDEs before trying to get out there. The allure of the "Innaugural Season" pushed me to go quicker however.
I will say this much though - being a shitty and slow road racer is still a helluva lot more fun than being a fast, smooth HPDE student . . .
I'll see you at VIR!

Welcome. You won't regret it.
But you have to have a relatively thick skin. We're kind of tough on each other (cough cough Warren cough).
Rules questions are best asked of Rice at karl@honda-challenge.com
Schedule, "what do I need to do to get my license," and business related questions come to me at scott@honda-challenge.com
For now, sign up for some NASA HPDE's to finish out the year at Summit Point (and BeaverRun I think) to get you feet wet on the race track. Then we'll determine where to go when the first competition school is available.
Again, I can't stress the importance of hitting the HPDEs first. It's a great formula that has been a big part of our success.
See ya at VIR.
PS - Congrats on buying a great car.

Welcome aboard, and congrats on an awesome purchase. And it's cool that H5 will continue to live and keep good numbers for next year. You're gonna love the ECHC, this is a bunch of great folks we've found.

Beno,
Welcome.
The ECHC series is the best group I have raced with. Period.
Drew and Scott are right about doing some HPDE's later this fall and prior to your schools. Get comfortable with the car and such.
BTW. The #88's Have to come off the black car for 03 ............ they are going on the new red car!
BTW-2. Matt is chief of rookies! Spend some time with him and you'll be set.
BTW-3. Do as many track events as possible. There is a red H5 Integra that needs a beat-down in 03.
You gotta be on your game for him!
BTW-4. Don't forget the check at VIR!
Have fun and look forward to meeting you in person.

H5 still, kinda-sorta for now.

#88 sold? Dammit, I was hoping to purchase that car for Danielle. Oh well, realistically I can't even afford my own race car.
Anyway, very nice car--one of the finest in the series. Congrats and hope to see you next year!
