Looking for help on an Auto X setup
OK Guys I just purchased and installed my Ground controls and konis and now its time to test and tune. My first auto X I was not very impressed with, but hey its a new setup. I currently have kuhmo 712's Running 39F/41R and konis at .5turn front and 1 turn in the back. The car is also 1.5" lower all around and has a ITR rear sway bar and strut tower bar. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Nice Setup! It's almost the same as mine, except I have my factory GS-R tower bar. I personally would run about 1/2 full (1.25 turns) on both front and rear Koni's and see how you like it. I believe I feel most comfortable with about 1.1 turn in the rear and .9 turn in the front, that's just from memory. I also run about 38/39 on m Kumho's and this has netted me 1st in STS.
Go more extreme at first and then lower the stiffness/pressures as you go on. Good luck!

What exactly did you dislike, and what did you have before? Play with the shocks and tire pressures a little more, but try to only make one adjustment at a time so you actally know the cause/effect.
The car goes pretty good, but I think I need to stiffen the shocks up some more. What is a good place for the shocks? The tire pressures are pretty good as far as rollover goes. The car is pretty neutral, but if I push it too hard the whole car washes, it would seem as though the tires can't handle the additional loads put on them from the new suspnsion. As far as the alighnment.... Good question. Around factory spec. I did not bring it to a shop for another alignment after the suspension because it was wearing well previously and there is nothing they can do to adjust the camber I added. As far as toe I would imagine 0 front and back. Whats the best "poor mans alignment" tools?Keep the suggestions coming! Does anyone else know what I am talking about with my kuhmos washing? They used to talk before they let go, now it just lets go. The tires have a lot of tread left but they are like 2 years old!
You might want to check the toe soon. Remember that when you change the ride height, you significantly change the toe as well. What are your springrates?

I would like a LSD, but unfortunately the money is not there. I am VERY broke!! I have one last semester of college and then I will be making some money, but for now I am only working full time over the summer and living with my girlfriend, which means no money! Anyway, I will check the toe, but is there anyway to do it myself? I can't see spending 50bucks to have an alignment done....

Much faster... because you'll have to run gumballs to keep up with the dudes in DSP.

i'm thinking of moving to DSP next year. race tires, intake manifold, and limited slip on top of what i have for STS should be pretty good.

Although, the later 200SX SE-Rs also have a viscous LSD, as well as the '00+ 2.5RS.
I was reading a post in this forum a while ago and saw a big debate on whether lowering a car changes your toe.... I know it will change my camber, but will my toe be changed?
I had H&R OEs installed a couple of yrs ago and a few weeks after they settled (about 1" drop at the time) I had the wheel alignment checked. There 's a shop near my house that only charges $24.95 to hook it up and just give you the alignment readings. I was hoping everything except the camber should be ok so I wouldn't have to pay the full $44.95 fee to have things adjusted. Believe it or not the Toe was way off 0! I had my suspicions because the car was not too stable on the highway. I watched those guys as they hooked everything up so I know they didn't mess with anything or leaned on the wheels, etc.
They adjusted the toe to 0 front and rear but the car didn't handle as well after the alignment. That's the price you pay for increasing the lifespan of your tires..
