HPCCC Worth It?
So the local SCCA is putting on an HPCCC, and for the price it's a pretty good deal. I've never done one, or a DE, or any real track event, just an auto-x on a road course. So my question is, are the CCC's worth it? I know track time is track time, and any of it is good, but the speed limit thing is kind of disconcerting. I just don't want to spend my hard earned cash on something that's gonna suck
And another question, the syncro between 1st and 2nd in my car is pretty much gone. I can get it into gear by double clutching fine and all, but I don't want to freak out an instructor if I grind when going into gear, or can't make the gear because I messed up my timing. So should I just wait and get my tranny replaced then go find another CCC or DE, or do you guys think it's cool to run with that? TIA

in most drivers ed events you will only shift 1-2 once per session and never go 2-1.
as far as speed limit goes, I dunno. no one around here does that. I would guess it would only matter on the straights, which are boring regardless of speed. as an instructor it could come in handy as it would allow me to lecture on the straights without having to compete with all the wind noise like i normally have to.

Bah, forget about the 1-2 shift. In fact, I occasionally have new students run an entire session in 5th gear. Try it, you'll be surprised how much you learn.
