How do you attach a racing harness?
I'm an idiot. I forgot to search. SORRY.
Just for the record. I'm not doing thi for looks, I wanted to be more securely mounted in my seat.

Go directly to either the Simpson or NASA websites. You will find the drawings that you need on them. The install is very simple if you take your time. If you are using a 5-point harness the easiest install for the lapbelts will be to forged eye-bolts on the floor. DO not skimp on the giant washers (1 on each side please). The shoulder harness is available in several setups, but for track it is best to have a rollbar with a horizontal tube to wrap the harness around. Otherwise use a location that is not too far from the seatback and at the correct angle. A warning about real harnesses-you should not use them in a car where the seat is of the 2-piece variety.

for a car with no cage, the most common mounting position for the shoulder belts is the rear driver's side backseatbelt shoulder belt bolt.
another note of caution: do not use harnesses while daily driving b/c if you roll your car, it's broken vertebrae time. well ideally you wouldn't use them without a roll cage ever, (and helmet) but i'm not really one to say that as i use em during auto-x's to hold me in better too.
what's everyone's thoughts about that in general?

That harnesses without rollover protection are far from ideal, but for many it is a tolerable risk in autocross situations.
Autocrossing is the only situation where I would use a harness without a rollbar/cage. On the track, without rollover, I'll use the OEM belt. On the street, it is always OEM belts for me.
