help choosing spring dimensions
Hi i need help choosing my spring dimensions because i'm not familiar with custom springs...i'm planning on using my brother's old threaded perches from his old coilovers with koni yellows
my question is how do i determine the diameter of the springs i need?
should i just measure the inner diameter of the springs or the perch that are already on there?
are any diameters interchangeable? like will a 2.5 diamter spring work as well as a 2.25?
how important is the spring length? i know they'll have to be long enough to fit the perch but what's the difference between getting a long spring and a short spring since they don't affect ride height cus i'll be able to adjust the height

Do you know that the "old threaded perches" fit the Konis? That's the first thing to check. Next, you can measure the diameter of the threaded ring on which the springs sit. There may be dampers that can use either a 2.25 or a 2.5, but generally I think it's one or the other. Measure the perch ring to be sure. Best case, take them to a local shop and test fit springs.
As for the length, that will depend on the ride height and the height of the perches. You are correct that the height doesn't matter too much as the perches are adjustable, but you want a length that gets the adjustable perch somewhere away from the extremes (all the way up or all the way down). Most Hondas end up between 6" and 8" and will depend on the desired ride height and the spring rate.

yea i just realized that midway through the day that i didn't know if they fit or not..is there any way i can tell by the dimensions or do i have to call up koni?

I can't help you there. I have only used Konis with GC sleeves designed to fit the Konis and I don't have experience with other applications.

is it ok to use different brand springs in the front and rear? for example, using a skunk2 coilover sleeves in the rear with eibach ers in the front using the skunk 2 threaded perch?
