Helmets.
Well, the time has come for me to buy a new helmet. Here is my issue.
I am currently using an Arai motorcycle helmet for every activity that demands a helmet - feces-throwing contests, HPDEs, and riding my scooter.
I need a real Snell-OK'd car helmet; I know this. My question is - is there any reason that one should not use a car helmet on a motorcycle? Weight, crashworthiness, visibility, comfort, etc?
I would love to avoid having to buy a new helmet for each hobby. I spent all my money on a neon underbody kit for the EXPO, so spending $600 on two new brain buckets isn't really that appetizing, unless I would be seriously jeopardizing my health by using a car helmet on a bike.
Thanks in advance dudes.

first read my FAQ on helmets for understanding the difference between Snell M and SA requirements. youll find theres not much between the two.

HPDE's on the west coast typically dont require SA helmets and an M is suitable, however on east coast they think theyre being safer requiring SA. so depending on where you are, that will probably decide which helmet youll need. check with the local events.
ive used my Bell M2 helmet while riding my motorcycle, and the only thing i noticed was that it would whistle at a certain head position, which at that angle would never be found while seated in an open car. then again, you ride a scooter.... so youre going to be upright anyway. everything else i found not an issue. visibility was slightly less peripherally, but nothing too bad. it is a heavier helmet, but i never felt fatigued by it, at least not that i remember.
overall, due to the price of a typical SA helmet, i would not waste its use on any other activity than driving, especially if youre in some "feces-throwing contest", whatever you mean by that. i would just continue to use your arai, its a nice helmet, and get a SA if you NEED to. so just check to find out if you need one.

The "contest" was just a little joke to put a smile on someone's face while answering my silly questions. We have had quite a lot of those contests in this forum
I will continue to use the Arai, since it is so comfy...however, it is getting on in years, and I need a second helmet since I frequently have passengers on the bike. Sounds like an SA helmet would do in a pinch.
Thanks for your help.
